No, rick they did not try to assimilate, they just kicked the natives out and took their land. Is that really better in your book? Perhaps Scout was correct, all along... ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/Azatland.gif) , ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/3.jpg)

And just to let you know, rick, the Native Americans, at the time of the Pilgrims(and even today), did and do have their own government. That it is not run in the way of the Europeans/present day USA doesn't make it not so. Maybe you could do with refresher course in American history, especially from the Native American Studies point of view. ![[Linked Image from mail.yimg.com]](http://mail.yimg.com/a/i/mesg/tsmileys2/20.gif)

Are you sure about the Anasazis? I thought they disappeared circa 900 years ago.

Rick, I don't think you need to return to high school, I'm not even sure someone of your advanced age would be admitted as a student. The conquering and genocide of the Indian Nations from the very first influx of Religious Fanatics to the wanton slaughter of the Buffalo herds to starve out the plains tribes continues to this day as Native Americans are often forced by circumstances to live in poverty on the Reservations set aside for them. Their laws and customs were totally ignored by the illegal immigrants from Europe. To now pretend to hold some high ground because we have conquered them and reduced their nations to ashes is more than a little hypocritical. The information is out there for anyone who chooses to learn about it. The civilization of the Indian is impossible while the buffalo remains upon the plains. I would not seriously regret the total disappearance of the buffalo from our western prairies, in its effect upon the Indians, regarding it as a means of hastening their sense of dependence upon the products of the soil and their own labors. --Annual Report of the Department of the Interior Pile of Buffalo Skulls Source Our Mexican "illegals" are just trying to civilize the unruly and warlike European Americans.

Rick~if you reread my post, I didn't even mention high school. But I'm sure that you could find the subject on the internet. BTW~Native American Studies are usually taught at the college level. And people of all ages can attend.
