Given how she seems to run her campaigns, her disdain for "experts", and the focus on politics over policy the likelihood of Palin assembling a competent team of advisors/cabinet as president seems rather remote. That would be a valid political consideration. However, given the decades of "experts" running things, and looking at our current situation (built up over many years by the "best and the brightest" in government and elected office) one has to wonder how far that argument would go. Yours, Issodhos

. He went on to demonstrate that stupid is as stupid does. Yours, Issodhos Which IMO is what Sarah Palin does on a consistent basis. Which, in turn makes me astonished that she continues to represent a formidable political force in this nation.

I think that Sarah Palin does a very good job narrating her "Alaska" series. She should stick to that and stay out of politics.

' By the way, you missed a key part of my statement, loganrbt -- the part about the hatred beginning within days of her selection when little to nothing was known about her. That was the revealing part. Goodness, Issodhos! That statement seems to reveal a deep ignorance of the nuts-and-bolts of politics! I am quite sure that everything significant about Palin was known by the operatives on both sides long before her selection.

' I'm wondering if the problem with the democratic party is it that it can't get it's freak on. The problem is that reasonable people are not as good at generating hysteria as the Republicans are. And nothing has ever really changed in America, for good or ill (normally ill, of course), until hysteria reaches a certain level and erupts into the delusion-laden American Dream.

Issodhos So Sarah Palin was attacked soon after her nomination.... I guess I would think that to be more remarkable if that scenario was at variance with long standing tradition. I am pretty sure that any politician who rises up will be attacked by their competitors... both within and outside the party. It the new face has experience, their record will be attacked. If they have little experience, they will be attacked for their lack of experience. What I find remarkable is that in the case of Ms Palin, this normal course of events was characterized as hatred. I think Ms Palin was no more hated than Dan Quayle... who was also skewered for being a light weight.

And of course, President Obama wasn't attacked within days of his announcing his candidacy by both his own party rivals and that of the GOP machine-not to mention that "hatred" spewed by the Tea Party...

Aw, Issy, I didn't know you cared enough about me to trot out that old, rusty saw of yours: follower of the Dem Party . How very thoughtful. You might wander down to the local hardware store, though, and look for a new saw because that one won't even cut rust anymore. I realize the notion of multifaceted thought is a troubling one for you but in the last election, I followed four parties; the Tea Party, the major party formerly known as the Repub Party, and the party down at the local pub.
