I think you are completely right, Chunkstyle. Even the Tea Party demonstrations and gatherings reek of rampant exhibitionism. Hand made signs, often mispelled, are thrust time and again into the faces of anyone who will look. The very origins of that "party" are rooted in sexual slang as when they originally referred to themselves as teabaggers. (or perhaps it was the media who first used that reference in regard to them for very obvious reasons)At any rate they seemed to want to put something nasty in America's mouth and choke the entire political process.
Democrats thought they were getting their freak on when the elected a Blackamoor. That race is well known to have enormous schlongs and to father illegitimate children at every opportunity. At least that's the stereotype that most voters were using when they elected him. Voters figured he was hiding his true hip hop gang bang Chicago beebop rapper personality and that as soon as he walked into the Whitehouse, he was gonna start callin' it the Blackhouse and there would be parties and lots of sports figures spending the night with prostitutes in the Lincoln bedroom. Alas, it never happened. President Obama has proved himself dominated by his white half, as conservative as they come but with no repressed sexuality to force him into outrageous political behavior. President Onama foolishly thought he could work within the system to bring about true and lasting change to the political process by showing Americans that there was hope for the future, that we could reverse the corruption through sensible and logical planning.

Not sure if that idea holds much water anymore. Maybe the democrats have to get out of the library on Friday nights and get back to the clubs to find their audience. Old wonks and their notions of what works are always showing the democrats to be fools or bookish.
Howard Dean's scream was a jolt that got the Democrats heart pumping. Unfortunately his team couldn't control his campaign environment. We all see how the GOP boys like to get off. What are the Democrats doing to get themselves off? Why show up to their party? I never cared for frat boy parties. Always had an element of rudeness and cruelty.
Yeah, Obama had more sex appeal against McCain. Perhaps that is why McCains' team picked up the beauty pageant contestant/governor of Alaska? It would appear that he's lost some of that ability to get the crowd off. Like he's been hobbled by to much office think. He ought to believe in his abilities more. His stump speeches that were echoing the DCC's party line in this election cycle were void of passion. He needs more Jeff Bebes'; "I work just as hard or harder than anybody on that stage. You know what I do? I connect. I get people off. I look for the guy who isn't getting off, and I make him get off."
The GOP seem to be getting off these days.

' what I've been saying all along is that the GOP seem to have more passion currently than do progressives. And where it has led them, we all wot well! Why in the world would any sensible person want to imitate them? ! I wish that there were a technological break-through that could identify all emotion above a minimal level and blot it out! I would vote to make it mandatory on all forms of mass media---except, perhaps, from drama that was more than a hundred years old! What the United States needs is far less passion and far more reason!

What the United States needs is far less passion and far more reason! I couldn't agree more. But passion is winning elections. Passion is winning air time. But it isn't just passion, it's methodology! It's the pulpit pounding preacher on Sunday morning. It's the right wing radio voice who has listeners so mad they could spit on any liberal in range. It's the TV talking heads who have the beer guzzlers riveted to their form fitting couches with built in beer coolers and foot rests. It's not what they say. it's how they say it! If reason could be as passionately expressed as the lifers, birthers, deathers, and baggers express the pure bunk that passes for reality on the right then reason would finally rule the day. It just aint happenin' Lefties got no get up and go they sit around the table drinking lattes 'til dawn and discussing the meaning of life and the unifeckingverse, while Rush Limberg picks the next president and he's favoring Sarah Palin right now.

If the country could buy Limbaugh for what he's worth and then sell him for what he think that he's worth, we could pay off the national debt with the difference. Actually, from a commercial radio point of view, Limbaugh and the world knows exactly what he is worth -- 400 million dollars for eight years. :-) Yours, Issodhos

It seems that the passions of the right have been aroused thru style and form. It might be passion but it seems to be selling policy. So maybe the left/ progressive side needs to get in touch with it's passions? I mean a big ass raging rant of a passion. If passion is selling policy these days then why is it so sensible to allow it to be the sole province of the fascist styled ideology? I think President Obama got the job thru his ability to arouse the passions within his party and the undecided. Hillary was an almost ran except when she had that cathartic moment of an indian tear from the stress of the campaign and the lack of respect for her resume. Suddenly there was an emotion for her. Pop culture is all about eliciting an emotional response. Hell, most questions these days are framed around "how did that make you feel?..." in reporting and talk shows. The conservatives are winning on passion but the rest of the country may well be getting screwed.
