Real Americans never lie. Everything a True American says is the Truth. To say or imply anything else is a lie.

It can't be that long-not compared to European or Asian history. We Americans are the newbies on the World Block at being around(as a Nation) for less than 300 years.

Look to your other counterparts in the world for lying with enthusiasm. Most of the American ancestors came from somewhere other than America. Starting with the Dutch, English, French and Spanish. Asians, Germans, Italians, Jews, Swedes,Norwegians, Slavs and other ethnicities came later, so if one uses logic, we came by our lying honestly, since we had every influence of almost every country in the world.

But to use even more logic, it is our government and Corporate America that does most of the lying. Most of the American citizenship is basically honest, and too worried about making ends meet to make convoluted stories to acquire power and huge amounts of money. Those whom take to blaming a whole populace for the actions of a few are lying just as much themselves.

Out of curiosity, numan~You claim that Americans are all enthusiastic liars. You are originally from America, and migrated to Canada. Just using the logic from your stated posts here, but are we to understand that you are one of the few liars in your new homeland? You being an American(by birth) and all... shocked

To put a religious spin on this, didn't we all come from those two original sinners: Adam & Steve...erm, I mean, Eve - and didn't they initially lie to God? [Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]

Any person who claims not to lie is the biggest liar of them all. It is part of human nature, not only because there is no truth to begin with, but also because all statements are approximations of whatever truth there may be.

What an inane tangent this discussion has taken. Numan, get over it. Americans are 300 million varieties of humans, no better no worse than other humans.

Sometimes a dead horse just stinks up the room.

Correctimundo, Phil! Both Truth and Beauty are in the eye of the beholder, and Truthfully there is no Beauty in the smell of a dead horse.

When my surgery went wrong, I was sent to my bed for 8 weeks. The pain pills removed my ability to read and I had to watch the television. I found myself watching Law and Order reruns. I had not seen this series before and was shocked at how easily the children (up to 18 years) lied to the Detectives and then in court. Apparently, few of the children who had witnessed or caused a murder either lied about the crime or sent the Detectives to another friend. I can think of nothing worse for our future.

Our elected law-makers are the worst offenders when it comes to not telling the truth. Apparently, lying is accepted in the family home, in the classrooms and now even in our court of law.

Many of us over 70 years are losing memories of our past actions. I am constantly being reminded of that failing within my own old friends. I am now very aware of memories when talking about old pals. My age group is fixated on memories that are not true. Negative memories seem to last longer than the good times. I wonder if these bad memories end up as facts on the internet forums.

I seldom believe much that is used as fodder for the forums. I prefer to get my information through books, and, if possible, through one-on-one meetings with the subjects.
