This rain event in LA is in its 3rd day of constant rain -- over 4 inches and the heavy rain is just starting. They predict it will go until Thursday like this.
For weather buffs, this is counter the usual pattern in a la nina year during which we are usually cool and dry.

Cali needs the water. Gawd knows El Lay doesn't understand the concept of sustainability and keeps on building and building and building and building and building and building and building and building and building and building and building and building...

1843 - Charles Dickens published "A Christmas Carol."
1864 - During the Civil War, Union general William T. Sherman sent a message to President Lincoln saying, "I beg to present you as a Christmas gift the city of Savannah."
1823 - The poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" ("'Twas the night before Christmas"), written by either Clement C. Moore or Maj. Henry Livingston, Jr., was published in the Troy Sentinel of New York.
1818 - "Silent Night" was composed by Franz Joseph Gruber. Merry Christmas to us all!

Ya Rick. But them Layers have water from the Kolleradda and Owens Valley and wherever else they can steal it from. Did you like the movie "Chinatown?" When that water dries up I have often wondered what will become of the Angel dwellers. Assuming an earthquake doesn't separate them first from the rest of the continent.
And Phil--don't whine me about rain. Aside from the endless NW winter drizzle we suffer from, I had lived in Hilo HI for several years. Average rainfall? 120 inches/year! That's if you are lucky enough to live near the coast. Go upland and it goes to 180+". 20" in one day!! When that happens your house literally has harmonics going on. The one blessing? Hilo is on a continuous slope.

Rick, what do you suggest we do with the people who insist on moving here? State law mandates a percent increase in housing every year, for your information.

Ken, not whining, just reporting. I know Fox has polluted the concept, but some of us can still state facts without any ..." and therefore .. ." after them.
Friday .37 in Sat 2.08 in So far sun (5 pm) 2.56 in
that is a lot of rain for a paved over city to handle, and the mountains and foothills are over 10 inches in places.
