First, try and convince everybody that scaring the s*** out of people is, simply, counter productive. Second, convince the media to stop giving time (print or any other media) to idiots. Third, convince everybody to stop listening to the rabble rousers (Limbaugh, Beck, etc) If one could get even one of these things done it would tend to moderate. If all three got done many problems would simply go away and the tone would be seriously moderated.
