I wish I knew how to attach a link, but she has posted a 7-minute video on her Facebook page ... I saw it on The New York Times site. Of course she does not apologize for or explain her crosshairs. I believe her choice of words, "blood libel" will offend Jews, who remember it as an accusation that Jews killed Christian children to use their blood to make matzoh for Passover. And she said that all Americans had to fight to keep their rights instead of sacrificing them for safety after 9-11. I believe that was a lefty fight, but she isn't much of a historian, obviously.

"Keep our rights"? Of course her statement must include the Teapublican buzz words "9-11" and "fight to keep [your] rights". Gov. Palin may not likely have read about it, but our rights are long gone.

Mick, our individual rights began to diminish almost from the beginning. Several Presidents tried to bring equality in America through a redistribution of wealth. Building federal businesses only was a bandaid and did little to strengthen individual talents and trades. We are in the middle of another try at taxing the business owners and the wealthy and again another cheap bandaid will be applied.

Our media and leaders have honed the concept of blaming others for the mess we are in and Governor Palin is right in there with her comments. I was too young to recognize the bandaids applied by FDR but saw the results of feeding and sheltering millions of Americans who lost everything. I saw the same when President Reagan approved of Amnesty in America for our undocumented aliens. The problem is that it has become the responsibility of the federal government to cast the safety net over all of us.

Governor Palin's comments were made to cover her own ass when it comes to the time for the 2012 election. I read the first of her books and it was whining from cover to cover. I believe she saw Betty Hutton's movie on Annie Oakley too many times and Palin even took on Hutton's walk of a cowboy in drag.

Are we so accustomed to corruption in our government that a Sarah Palin could actually get elected? Here in Arizona, that is the case.

I do not want our federal government to attempt to stop free speech but I see nothing wrong with returning to the size of the magazines that allows the massacres of dozens of people over 10 or so. I have been a member of the NRA for years but did not renew my membership last year.

Are you calling for gun control laws, Sandy? Like Sarah Palin it would be too little and too late. But you are not the only one calling for a limitation of this particular individual right:
Quote
U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., said Monday he will introduce legislation to reinstate a ban on the manufacture and sale of high-capacity ammunition clips like the one allegedly used by Jared Lee Loughner in Saturday’s massacre at a Tucson Safeway store that left six dead and 14 injured, including Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

High-capacity magazines containing more than 10 bullets were illegal under a federal assault weapons ban in place between 1994 and 2004, when Republicans in Congress successfully allowed the ban to lapse. Loughner, according to police, used several 33-round clips during his deadly shooting spree.

Sen. Frank Lautenberg
“The only reason to have 33 bullets loaded in a handgun is to kill a lot of people very quickly. These high-capacity clips simply should not be on the market,” Lautenberg said in a release. “Before 2004, these ammunition clips were banned, and they must be banned again. Link

Gun control, or semi-automatic firing weapon control? No one should have more fire-power than their local police department.

Philosophically, Rick, I agree. The slippery slope here is that when you call for the limitation of one individual right for the good of the collective. Then all individual rights may come under equal scrutiny. Either you espouse individual rights or collective rights, I don't think you can have it both ways.
I admit to being a collectivist. I was rescued by government safety nets and I like having them in place. There is no more noble a thing a government can do than to help it's citizens in times of need.
Reducing the capacity of clips and magazines being manufactured and sold might very well save lives. Collectively a good thing. But is it an infringement on individual rights?

A speed limit is a limit also. Why is a clip limitation an infringement of a right? IMO it is fairly far fetched that a person needs a semi-automatic weapon with a 30 round clip or they are unable to defend themselves.

Really, aren't we mostly talking about people who have guns as a hobby? I am not saying they should be prevented from that hobby. I just do not think there is a right to pursue a hobby without limitations.

I do not influence, and I do not seek to influence, with my speech. I'm a politician.

I watched her speech twice, and was disturbed at the (to me) inappropriate places where she seemed to smile. I urge all of you to watch her facial expression, which at times does not seem to match her verbal message. Just makes me wonder.
