We dropped the requirement for titles quite some time ago.
For any who may have forgotten, this is the current guideline regarding elected officials:
Elected Officials, both past and present, are referred to by name, not by nickname or by verbal/visual insulting reference. Feel free to criticize an elected official's actions, but don't attack the person. Address what the person did, not what the person "is".
For the most part, initials are acceptable, but, due to his unfortunate initials, they may not be used in the case of
President Barack Obama.
