As a bloody-minded Westerner, I think it is the higher officials of the nuclear industry and the government who should be forced to clean up the mess, and would only be sorry that so many of them are old and wouldn't suffer the full effects of radiation poisoning.

You're right. Many of the Buddhist pursuasion take a far more sensible/reasonable approach to life's viccissitudes than Christian/agnostic/atheistic Westernmers do.

You're right. Many of the Buddhist pursuasion take a far more sensible/reasonable approach to life's viccissitudes than Christian/agnostic/atheistic Westernmers do. Muslims and Hindus left out of the mix. I'm suspect of sub-continent Asian higher-power proclivities casting a long dark shadow on Western culture.

Name one nation successfully exclusively using wind/solar/wave, etc generation C.S.
Electric utilities started out as local generators. (It wasn't possible to "ship" electricity over any distance efficiently until a Russian emmigre' showed us how to convert from current to potential.) IAC the existing grid system is our point of greatest vulnerability; to natural and man-caused disasters. (How soon everyone forgets those "great blackouts of the past) ! These "green" pogroms - by reason of their variability - increase that vulnerability. >Mech

No doubt the NIMBY luddites would find fault with that too, L.T. ! Heh, Heh !
They have in NE NJ ! In a marvelous case of "hoisting a nuisance by its own petard" the serving utility has met its voter-mandated "green" energy generation quota by installing P-V solar panels on its poles across its service region. Listening to the luddites' objections is a hoot !
BTW, LT, you are free to go "off grid" anytime you choose. And can learn the technology to accomplish it, of course ! >Mech

Don't 'spose you have a link to that little gem? (I'm thinking that electricity isn't your game...) Present distance shipping of electricity is far from efficient. Line losses and other transmission issues can add up to something in the range of 50% production wasted. And conversion efficiencies from coal and other fossil fuels isn't exactly stellar.
You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the old model obsolete.

If you have a point worth making it might be useful to add more detail and explanation to give context and understanding. There is no need to go off-grid with solar PV. It is far more expensive and requires battery storage. Grid inter-tie is the best way to go, though it does come into conflict with the absolute control that corporate interests would like. Localized co-ops would be far preferable in supplying our electrical power, with peak use and off-peak production purchase deals with the big plants. I'm surprised that you would prefer to play "bend over" with the utilities rather than working to find ways to get out from under their domination. I guess some folks likes being sheeple.
