There is no accounting for tastes. I turned my back on Vancouver when they sold their birthright for a mess of pottage and became a "world class city." Once upon a time, the drivers there were so polite! Now.... rolleyes

There are excellent restaurants there (Ah! the Chinese food! · · · Bow ), and the great jewel there is the Sun Yat-sen Chinese garden! It really is like a garden in China! But you had better bone up on your Chinese philosophy before going there, or you will probably be disappointed. It is a concrete instantiation of the most subtle Daoist spiritual understanding.

Another plus for Vancouver is that, long ago when it was still fashionable to be pro-American, it resolutely turned its back on the evil influences emanating from the south, and forbade freeways within the limits of the city. This accounts for whatever is still positive in the spirit of the city.
