I visited Vancouver, BC last 34 years ago. I remember how clean and friendly the city was. I have been to Victoria more recently, and I do enjoy that city as well. I do prefer western Canada to eastern Canada.
I suspect that you, as well as I, being Westerners bred and born*, look with some disfavor on the weird behavior of those who have the misfortune to have been born on the eastern side of the Continental Divide.
