The human body cools itself by sweating, which requires that the sweat evaporates

This system fails miserably in my neck o' the woods.
A drop of sweat exuded from one's forehead will, without wiping or being pulled from your forehead by gravity, or pushed by another drop of sweat, remain in place until sometime in the Fall.
The high temperature every day is 95 degrees
The low is 77
The "relative" humidity is 100%
It rains almost every day
There is no wind.

This is the weather for June July and August.
April and May were the same but it didn't rain
Sometime in September the high temperature might drop below 90 and it will stop raining.

Possible chance of Hurricanes.

I'm back from my high school reunion in Palm Springs. It was great! We had some wonderful Mexican food on Friday night, and sat by the pool Saturday morning. Then I had a massage...Ahhhhhhhh! We had dinner and dancing and conversation Saturday night and some of us met for breakfast and more conversation Sunday morning. It was such a relaxing and enjoyable weekend! ThumbsUp

Welcome back Scoutgal. I am back from a nice trip to Seattle and an absolutely delightful one to Vancouver. I love that city.

There is no accounting for tastes. I turned my back on Vancouver when they sold their birthright for a mess of pottage and became a "world class city." Once upon a time, the drivers there were so polite! Now.... rolleyes

There are excellent restaurants there (Ah! the Chinese food! · · · Bow ), and the great jewel there is the Sun Yat-sen Chinese garden! It really is like a garden in China! But you had better bone up on your Chinese philosophy before going there, or you will probably be disappointed. It is a concrete instantiation of the most subtle Daoist spiritual understanding.

Another plus for Vancouver is that, long ago when it was still fashionable to be pro-American, it resolutely turned its back on the evil influences emanating from the south, and forbade freeways within the limits of the city. This accounts for whatever is still positive in the spirit of the city.

I visited Vancouver, BC last 34 years ago. I remember how clean and friendly the city was. I have been to Victoria more recently, and I do enjoy that city as well. I do prefer western Canada to eastern Canada.

Our view of Vancouver was influenced heavily by the fact it was Pride weekend and featured a fabulous fireworks show for Celebrating of Life. Weather was so-so but I was very impressed by the fact that during the parade, attended mostly by straight folk, every entry was loudly cheered. You just don't get that here in WeHo, and before Rick chimes in, SF either.

Unlike certain folk one might mention, Canadians tend to be laid-back, live-and-let-live kind of guys---and gals.

I suspect that you, as well as I, being Westerners bred and born*, look with some disfavor on the weird behavior of those who have the misfortune to have been born on the eastern side of the Continental Divide.

Sigh
It was just about this time in 2001 (10 years ago), when bride and self were looking to settle on our investment future. A very good friend told us he had converted his liquid net worth to gold, and we seriously considered this. (Back when we still had some net worth). Having remembered when gold was $35/.oz. We finally decided it wouldn't be a good idea.
The price at the time was about $260/.oz.
As of today, Gold is selling at $1,269/.oz.

That's an increase of just over 600%.
As we think about millions of dollars disappearing, just like that, we "sigh".

As my uncle Otto always said:
Vee grow too soon old, und too late schmart!

Remind me of the screen name of the Gold Bug... who posted here back in 2003 - 2005. ????
Why, oh why didn't we listen?
