I'm for secularism in government. Greger, you continue to insult others who want more determination in our government. Greger, can you document your continued insults to others who want more determination in our government? Thanks.
You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the old model obsolete. R. Buckminster Fuller

I have written for many years on the other side of the coin when it comes to federal legislation. There is no doubt that I am in the minority here at Reader Rant. I began to bring up my fears of the religious right in 1999 when I did a quick research on the duplicity of then Governor Bush. I remember the years of Pat Robertson trying to run for office. At that time Goldwater tossed him out of the race. You see logroll I read many books of warning that the Evangelicals were lined up to take America into a Christian nation. I saw it in the Birch Society before anyone else had a clue. My fears topped political opinions and I was very wary of Senator John Kennedy who ran as a Catholic. He was wiser than I figured and knocked that old bugaboo about the Pope running nations in the past.I believe he kept his promise.
I hate the idea that anyone would run as an Evangelical trying to convince America that they had the direct circuit into God. It is a very common concept and I saw it in person when I attended a couple of revival meetings. The Separation of Church and State came crashing down under President G.E. Bush 43 when he began to hand out grants to the churches.
My best friend lost her 89 year old mother and every day since that time has allowed her bible to fall on the floor and she would read the pages left open as a message from her Mother.
Will we have to watch "President Perry" follow in the same direction? He already admits God talks to him. Is sanity too much to hope for?
Greger has his agenda and I have mine but he tends to laugh at my words. I ignore it as it shows his lack of reading. Until we investigate what draws people into office, we will continue to live by the polls. I've been trying for years to locate a political party that actually appeals to my sense of individual rights. Greger offers nothing and reacts instead of acting FOR something.
I'm searching for people who are willing to act for their ideals. There's that ugly word again "Ideals"........ I do not trust Christian ideals as they come from as militia movement of violence.

Apparently my little jest went over your head, Sandy. I wasn't actually suggesting that you push anyone down a flight of stairs. Merely that the Republican Party is not salvageable. Even though a resident of your country club is a Republican and an agnostic it does not change the fact that Republicanism as you knew it is dead. And it did not ascend to heaven. I don't seek a political party to join, or to create my own. I simply do not need to join a party. I don't need to feel that I am a part of something larger than myself nor to align myself with any particular group of people. I am an an extreme Centrist. A radical, non-religious, middle of the road, Independent. I don't feel any need to sway your opinion about anything because it is not important to me what you or anyone else believes or does not believe. I am, in fact, a Secular Humanist. My beliefs stand on their own without Religion or Political Party. I do not seek other people "like me", or to form a group or congregation. Each individual is responsible for his or her actions.

While it is certainly True that each Individual is responsible for her own actions, it is impossible for the Individual to know the difference between Right and Evil without the guidance of the Almighty through His Word, His Church and a continuous prrsonal dialog between the Induvidual and the Almighty. Without the Almighty and His Law, everything is permitted.

' Without the Almighty and His Law, everything is permitted. Including levitation and human parthenogenesis? · · · Nature has its own laws, so you need not feel totally lost in a Godless universe. To survive, societies will always have some structure, though those structures will vary within certain limits.

All Laws, "natural" or otherwise obviously emanate from the Almighty.

Irked, there are millions of good sound humans who never heard of God and they did just fine when it comes to culturally strong communities. The trouble makers from all over the planet are those who use and abuse God for their own profits. In many cultures, God was a man-made creature designed to control the masses.
If you believe that God guides you through your life then you need God. The rest of us learn from experience that simply by living in groups, we can judge right from wrong and it is done every single day on this planet. My children were taught a deep respect for nature and humans are a part of nature. We tend to look after critters that are abused and forgotten. We tend to look at humans as the top of the evolutionary tree and we come in all colors, shapes and sizes.
The Secular Humanist movement is the new age of equality and we do not tolerate separating humans into groups. The reason for this is found in science not the bible.
I'm not the least worried that I no longer fit into the GOP. I want a part of the GOP to return to their secular roots when they wanted no more slavery in their midst. What the tea party and the religious right have done to the GOP is a disgrace! If there is a chance that the party can return to the individual freedoms that the party was based on, then I am a happy camper. When this can safely be restored then we can go to work on the political agenda. I am dead set against the Evangelicals threatening me with their nasty ugly God.
I regret that so many Evangelicals are unable to train their children in the art of right over wrong and pull them into they occult belief that there is a monster god waiting to destroy them at any point in the future. It is a dangerous life when one grows up living in fear of hell and damnation. I don't even want to live next door to this madness. I sure as hell don't want one of these people to end up in the white house. We have seen the actions of these extremists strap bombs on themselves and blow up huge numbers of innocent victims. If you look into the history of these folks you will see that in every case, God told them to kill.
The study of White Supremacy members are as loony as any group in America. The problem at this time is that after Obama was elected the White Supremacy groups organized in many places in the South and the north west around Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. They all talk to God and all are armed to kill. That seems to be the mantra for many American Christians. Do you ever look into the backgrounds of these serial killers? I'll let you make the effort to come up with what many have discovered. The entire group is filled with pedophiles and homophobes. All do their thing in the name of Jesus Christ. So excuse me if I want a Secular division in the GOP where many Republicans can be trusted to think and act as individuals.
