Let's take your comment as a starting point....

My observation is that many other countries are similarly afflicted... and that our leaders and those other leaders achieved their position through the normal operation of diverse democratic processes operating in different societies.


So our problem is not unique... other countries face similar problems and for similar reasons.

If there are obvious straight forward solutions, it is puzzling that other countries have not discovered and implemented those solutions.


Or, alternatively, perhaps the problems that we and other countries face emerge from common causes that may be somehow endemic to the democratic political process.


And, if that is the case, I wonder if the problems are capable of resolution through a democratic process.?

I am not expressing an opinion, just asking the question.
