All political thinking for years past has been vitiated in the same way. People can foresee the future only when it coincides with their own wishes, and the most grossly obvious facts can be ignored when they are unwelcome. ... As with the Christian religion, the worst advertisement for Socialism is its adherents. ... It is almost universally felt that when we call a country democratic we are praising it; consequently, the defenders of every kind of regime claim that it is a democracy, and fear that they might have to stop using the word if it were tied down to any one meaning.

You usually can't tell what's inspiring until you look back on it. ... One of the things that has always motivated me to write is the desire to get it out and look at it in an objective way, so that it doesn't cause me any serious pain by staying inside. - - - Carly Simon

Yikes what a giant pain but I can only guess it was a bigger pain moving the board. But I got my own fun happening! This morning one of my machines crashed. Luckily I was able to access my email backups, address books and docs. But not to be outdone, my truck is now spewing water out the front of the engine compartment. Havent figured out if it's a water pump, busted hose or cracked block yet.
I sure hope it's Door Number Two.
So...is everybody enjoying themselves???

1975 - Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declares Emergency in India, suspending civil liberties and elections.
1975 - Mozambique achieved independence. COINCIDENCE? I think NOT! On Christianity: “I threw out the bath water, and there was no baby there.” -- Dan Barke From the Church of Ineffable Stupidity: a) IRaqNam a popular (and formerly safe) hotel for visiting foreigners, dignitaries and the media was attacked in Baghdad. 14 killed. Where is John McCain when he is needed? A growing number of Americans now believe that Saddam was behind 9/11. Now, up to 41%. WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR COUNTRY? - - - b) Sean Hannity He blames Hillary Clinton for starting the IraqNam occupation. THAT IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR NATION! - - - c) The UK is dead. Long live the UK The British Qualifications and Curriculum Authority told schools to eliminate traditional subjects in favor of "theme-based" projects -- replacing a basic chemistry class that teaches the periodic table, with a project on the societal impact of pollution -- in order "to create a nourishing and appetizing feast that will sustain learners and meet their needs." - - - d) Darth Cheney - must read article. From the Church of Ineffable Stupidity:
Zoila Meyer came to the US at the age of 1 form Cuba. She has lived here her entire life. Never knew she was not a citizen. She ran for office and won a seat to Adelanto city council.
An unhappy opponent reported her birth to the Homeland Scrutiny Assholes who started an investigation. Even though she has since become a naturalized citizen, she will now be deported. Why?
Because she voted and pleaded guilty to that misdemeanor.
Whoever said that the law is an ass was making an understatement.

from the Church of Ineffable Stupidity:
The US Supremes decided, on a technicality, that the atheists and agnostics who complained about the religious favoritism taking place under Team Bush, had no standing to sue. 5-4 decision against separation of church and state. - - -
they also ruled to allow the school to censor a student and kick him out when he pulled out a banner "bong hits for Jesus". 5-4 decision against free speach.
