No. A real follower of Christ can serve only the the one master. Further, on three specific occasions, Jesus indicated that there was a clear and unconfused distinction between the world and the spirit; nowhere did Jesus say anything about his followers seeking or allying themselves with political power.

I learned this several years ago when apparently many Christians get mixed and that the POTUS is not a religious leader. They want him to be so they only have to follow one set of laws.
There are a lot of very confused and not overly-bright people stumbling around on the ground and on the internet making all sorts of claims that are absolutely ridiculous.

A few years ago on another forum, I had one such person insisting that I regarded the President as a religious leader; this same person also insisted that the two of us had carried on a year-long debate on yet another forum, a debate in which I supposedly defended every program that the current administration had proposed. Unfortunately for that person's credibility, not a single iota of proof could be offered - not a single post or quote - and that rather confused soul soon descended into the crudest of ad hominem responses rather than support or withdraw the claim.

A real Christian is not interested in icons or other such outer signs of a supposed spirituality. By their fruits will you know them.

A real Christian understands the nature of his sins and seeks not hide them but to confess them and repent.

I'd say that the people you have met are not really Christians, but those who, as Jesus warned, would come saying Lord! Lord!

Agreed.
