it was one of those bits of humour i promised earlier! oh and its possible that you can use simple chemistry to produce hydrogen, as opposed to complicated nuclear physics boron+Water = Hydrogen and Boron oxide no emmisions and the boron oxide can be re-processed to make more boron. it can apparently be done in a car on demand - no need for Hydrogen storage and its technolocial difficulties and weight problems. doesnt need a 5B dollar power plant neither!

Cool article. If that were to be feasible--look out! There are a lot of exciting ideas out there awaiting tangible reality. When that happens we are on our way to a better world and a reduced carbon footprint. And the Northwest--hoowee!!--all that water!

Nuclear plants linked to leukemia "Researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina carried out a sophisticated meta-analysis of 17 research papers covering 136 nuclear sites in the UK, Canada, France, the USA, Germany, Japan and Spain. They found that death rates for children up to the age of nine were elevated by between five and 24 per cent, depending on their proximity to nuclear facilities, and by two to 18 per cent in children and young people up to the age of 25. " safe? unfounded fears of radiation?

Let's see Schlack, around 200 people were just incinerated in Brazil on a jet--did the jet kill them or was it the kerosene? Or kerosene combined with gasoline? Are you still going to fly, or use gasoline?
And the earthquake in Japan—killed 9 or so. But that was the earthquake—so who cares. The previous one killed scores more. Life is fraught with peril, there is a cost benefit ratio to everything. I still think the benefits of nuclear power outweigh the costs but it’s not really for me to decide. I don’t know what direction the US is going to take in it’s quest for more power, but they better do something soon—besides taking over the middle east that is.

Did anyone see this article in the NY Times? I think you can open it without registering--talks about our precarious energy future--
