Henry Ford The Girl Scouts are releasing a new cookie next week called Savannah Smiles. The lemony cookie's name is a nod to Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low, of Savannah, Ga., who started the organization in 1912. Far be it from me to be a party pooper. I shall order 20 boxes.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good lemony cookie, but the Girl Scouts have a lot more than just cookies going on-new badges. Part of the reason behind the new Girl Scout cookie release, is that March 12th, 2012 is the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides. This service organization was started in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low, after visiting the UK and seeing what Lord Baden-Powell did with the Boy Scouts. It has grown and includes girls from Kindergarten(Daisy Girl Scouts)-through 12th Grade(Senior Girl Scouts) and then even into adulthood, by way of Girl Scout Leaders. I have been involved with Girl Scouts USA for over 20 years, and support them through cookies, as some of you posters have seen!  I did try the new cookie. It is very good. I recommend Girl Scout cookies to everyone!
