Our nanny state environment has gone 'screaming yellow zonkers' nuts
so i am curious ... if you believe the government has overstepped some line, could you be more specific with what a government should do???

as examples:
1. people who choose to abuse otc products to damage brain cells/kill themselves
2. otc products which unbeknownst to the buyer is dangerous either short term or long term

should the government allow citizens without warning to be subject to potentially dangerous products??? do businesses have an obligation to warn buyers (i know of no case in which a business on it's own volition warned anyone of anything) etc

so offer a clue, as i believe in the Constitution, government has an obligation to provide for the general welfare of which protecting me from the potential dangers of otc products is one
... so where is it you stand??

The government's concern regarding cold OTCs isn't that you'll kill yourself by overdosing - it's because the active ingredients are used to make meth. Hmm

That is indeed why Rick. Oregon banned large sales of psudoephedrine several years ago and I think to get even a small amount requires a prescription. Sales of lye, iodine, toluene and assorted other health food reagents are also sold here under scrutiny.

What’s a meth head to do?

As much as I dislike compulsory photo ID, it is probably inevitable, given the corrupt, rotten society in which we live.

It is another blow against individual freedom, but it is not the end of civilization as we know it, either.

If you have blocked drains, it is more sensible to go up on the roof with a hose and run a stream of water down the vent pipe for the drains (after putting stoppers in the sink, of course!). Then you need not use the poisonous chemicals which you are brainwashed into thinking you need.

What should be banned are the over-the-counter patent medicines and snake oils that drug-pusher Big Pharma hypnotizes you into buying --usually to the damage of your body and health.

Call Roto-Rooter, that's the name, and away go troubles, down the drain.

I prefer to do things myself, so that they will be done correctly -- rather than the American Way.

This, I believe, is yet another example of a bureaucrat, out of work and looking for something to do, just put yet another little rule in place to keep everybody appropriately amused, under control, saved from something, and unhappy (all at the same time).

If there was appropriate governmental oversight I suspect whoever did this would be reprimanded and the rule rescinded. Instead it will be there forever.

Apparently ex-pats in Canada like top down solutions. Grassroots types like myself find one of the cleanouts at ground level and go in there. Wonder why they are called cleanouts? Oh well, I guess that's just more than an average American can comprehend. Hmm
