Please save jokes and miscellaneous comments for the Round Table. Use thoughtful, source-linked posts to discuss the issues of the opening thread post. Refrain from making personal comments about other posters. Scoutgal, Phil Hoskins, NW Ponderer, Greger and Churlpat Lives Winter has hit some parts of the country with a bang, and others with a whisper. Mountains around here in SoCal are manufacturing their own snow, for the ski resorts. It has been in the 70's and 80's here for almost a week. Winter has been warmer than our previous Spring. In other parts, Snow has been scarce as well, until today. Whatever your weather, enjoy the good stuff and be careful of the bad! To get us in the Winter mood... Now let's take a sleigh ride! Here's a nice warm fire! Have some hot, buttered popcorn! Let's sip some hot chocolate. (CBSNewYork) – A homeless Brentwood High School senior, who is a semifinalist in the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search, received some exciting news Friday. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced 17-year-old Samantha Garvey will be getting a three-bedroom, rent subsidized home in Bay Shore where she’ll live with her twin sisters, brother and parents. The family lost their home after Garvey’s parents were injured in a car accident which left them unable to work. They have been living in a homeless shelter since New Year ’s Day.
