U.S. Navy sends third carrier to 5th fleet region Tue Jul 10, 2007 5:38 PM IST What could go worng?! MANAMA (Reuters) - The U.S. navy has sent a third aircraft carrier to its Fifth Fleet area of operations, which includes Gulf waters close to Iran, the navy said in a statement on Tuesday. "Enterprise (aircraft carrier) provides navy power to counter the assertive, disruptive and coercive behaviour of some countries, as well as support our soldiers and marines in Iraq and Afghanistan," the statement said.

I wonder if Chertoff's psychic tummy ache has anything to do with bombing Iran and the inevitable retaliation?

I wonder if he had a 'gut feeling,' in the summer of '05, that Brownie was doing a heckuva job, and FEMA was ready for any conceivable emergency.
I deeply dislike this guy.

I want to assume this is good news unless and until it proves to be bull$hit. "Has the department made a decision for three carriers in the Gulf? No. They haven't," Whitman said. "What Secretary Gates has said is still the current guidance with respect to the level of effort in the Centcom area of responsibility."
"There is an allocation plan for major assets like carriers, and the secretary would be involved in any decisions with respect to that," he said.
Defence officials later told reporters that the carrier USS Stennis is expected to have left the region by the time the Enterprise arrives, and that the new carrier will replace the USS Nimitz. Agence France Press via ABC NewsFurther evidence, if this is true - if - that my conjecture that the Fourth Branch of Government has lost its bid to attack Iran is correct.

![[Linked Image from puberty101.com]](http://www.puberty101.com/images/testilces_sizes.gif) We can hope that this means the Fourth Branch's influence is shrinking. TAT Pentagon to reduce naval presence in Gulf link Thu Jul 12, 2007 6:41PM EDT WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon will reduce its naval presence in the Gulf to one aircraft carrier group by August, defense officials said on Thursday. The U.S. Defense Department said the move did not reflect a change in its concerns about the Middle East and that its naval presence in different regions changes periodically. "This change in carrier presence does not reflect a change in commitment or concern for the region," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said. "Carrier presence is but one means by which the U.S. engages in the region." Defense Secretary Robert Gates decided in January to boost the U.S. naval presence in the Gulf to two aircraft carriers and their escort ships, which officials said was meant to reassure U.S. allies worried about Iran's growing influence. Rotation and maintenance schedules, however, force the Navy to drop to one carrier group in the Gulf as soon as August, according to defense officials.

Those last few posts have been encouraging. However, don't forget there is more than one way to skin a cat (so to speak). (where's that tinfoil hat smilie?) Lets see how long it is until AQ(or so we'll be told) again strikes within the homeland. Then lets see how long it is until Martial Law is enacted. I just find it hard to believe that BushCo will leave office with no more than a whimper!

Dont give up hope for a little excitement! Bomb Pakistan .
"They're silly benchmarks, a lot of them," said Kristol. "The military situation is better than anyone expected. ... If Bush can just hang on there and beat back the people in Congress who want to snatch defeat out of the jaws of possible success ... I think we're going to win this war."
A Fox host then cited a new report that "al Qaeda ... is running from Iraq, apparently to Pakistan" and asked "did this report come out on purpose so that we will have the right ... to go after Pakistan now?"
Kristol responded, "I think the president's going to have to take military action there over the next few weeks or months. ... Bush has to disrupt that sanctuary."
"I think, frankly, we won't even tell Musharraf," Kirstol continued. "We'll do what we have to do in Western Pakistan and Musharraf can say, 'Hey, they didn't tell me.'"
