It was Pres Carter who labeled oil as in our national interest and therefore must be protected to guarantee us our rightful share of oil.
The neocon letter of 1998 stated explicitly the importance of oil and also labeled it as in our national interest.
The reason for all the interest in the 2001 energy meeting Cheney had with only the energy czars is exactly to have a bearing on how much is oil in our national interest? Did they tell Cheney the oil must flow for the next 20 years? Did they tell Cheney there are no alternatives on the horizon which will replace oil as their cash cow?
I say show a little will power ... pay the higher prices at the pump if that is necessary for you .... but find the alternative ... that is what should be in our national interest!!!
