Perry has lost what was left of his insane mind...

Quote
Perry wrote a letter to President Obama earlier this month accusing his administration of "mandating which health providers the state of Texas must use" in order to "continue to support abortion providers like Planned Parenthood." He vowed to continue the Women's Health Program in Texas without Planned Parenthood and without federal money, although he has yet to outline how his state will come up with money.

As a result of this...

Quote
Cindy Mann, director of the Center for Medicaid and State Operations (CMSO), wrote Texas health officials a letter on Thursday explaining that the state broke federal Medicaid rules by discriminating against qualified family planning providers and thus would be losing the entire program, which provides cancer screenings, contraceptives and basic health care to 130,000 low-income women each year.

"We very much regret the state's decision to implement this rule, which will prevent women enrolled in the program from receiving services from the trusted health care providers they have chosen and relied upon for their care," she wrote. "In light of Texas' actions, CMS is not in a position to extend or renew the current [Medicaid contract]."

The federal government pays for nearly 90 percent of Texas' $40 billion Women's Health Program, and nearly half of the program's providers in Texas are Planned Parenthood clinics. But the new law that went into effect earlier this month disqualified Planned Parenthood from participating in the program because some of its clinics provide abortions, even though no state or federal money can be used to pay for those abortions.

Man...maybe I shouldn't have posted this. Ma_Republican will want to move to Texas. He'll love Perry's debacle.

There will be hell to break loose on Texas soil. A lot of women will be...I don't know what they'll be. I don't have a clue as to what options will be available for preventative health care.

This move is going to be INCREDIBLY COSTLY to Texans. All Texans. The health cost will go through the roof. Taxes will have to be raised, maybe to a point impossible to pay...and my best bet is that Texas legislators will finally be forced to create a state income tax.

Perry was virtually through when his ignorance flashed across the nation during the presidential candidate's debates.

He's done. And good riddance. What an...#!$#$!$!

I think that he's working on gutting the school system, too. Meaning getting federal funds cut off.

I don't know why Gov. Perry likes riding the crazy train, but he's feeding more and more coal into that engine!

Women will get sick and have the right to die. This keeps them in line and subjugated to their glorious male Republican masters.

Gregg, my understanding of the situation in Texas is that (at least from the secessionist viewpoint)the State of Texas needs no handouts from the federal government and in fact would be better off if they resigned from the union and became a sovereign nation.
In fact, my previous readings on this subject left me with the impression that soon after the secession, the 49 remaining states would be borrowing money from Independent Texas. Also, from the sounds of this, those using the Women's Health Program are probably illegal immigrants anyway. rolleyes

All tongue in cheek, of course, but it is an excellent way for the red states to help cut the deficit which is so terribly important to them this voting cycle.

The horror, the horror, the horror...of it all, Greger.

This is idiocracy at its best.

Now all we need now is for Santoum to become President and Perry VP.

Do you know why Texas hasn't slide off into the Gulf of Mexico?

OKLAHOMA SUCKS!

That state has gone crazy, too! Gezzzz. It's turned into some kind of religious cult.

After this summer, by all means please let's see Texas secede and declare sovereignty.

By that time my family and I will be comfortably settled back in Southern California, and it will be a fun show to watch.
I just don't want to still be living there when it all goes down.

I hope you have a guest room where you're moving to. We may have to pack up and head your way. Don't worry, Jeff we shouldn't be staying more than a few months or so. LOL

You abandoning good old Mansfield?

Wait! Y'all are lookin' this the wrong way around! Texas just saved the federal gummint $36 billion buckaroos.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich
