1984 - Geraldine Ferraro was nominated by the Democratic Party to become the first woman from a major political party to run for the office of U.S. Coincidence? Pigs, like Atlas, shrug. (I will finish listening to that 42-disk novel. I WILL finish listening to that 42-disk novel.)
Currently reading: Best American Mystery Stories edited by Lee Child and Otto Penzler. AARGH!

Movie for Saturday!!! Fury (1936) On TCM Saturday 5:00 AM (CDT). Don't miss this one. Really. It's a glimpse, and not a nice one, of a mob mentality against a man who is thought to have done something wrong. Based on a commentary on a then-current story line , it will truly scare the shi cra cac bejayzus out of you. Reminds me a bit of that old Twilight Zone episode (or was it Outer Limits?) of a person who had a bomb shelter; there was an air-raid scare, and people turned on the man who had built the shelter. Anyway, it's a keeper. Please watch it. off to watch the Harry Potter book sale! cheesehead

Many counties are now enforcing jury duty requirements by sending the sheriff to pick up those who ignore the call to jury duty and bringing them in for immediate service. Watch out Rick. It's not like wanted to "get out" of Jury Duty. I simply forgot all about it. And, it wasn't like, "Darn!" I forgot to call yesterday - it was like, I forgot to call months ago!
