A few points about my background. My mother was a studio musician, my dad was a producer. I grew up with the Hollywood crowd and can find no reason to excuse this. I worked in the industry as a costumer and did a lot of radio shows back in the 40s, cast as the voices of many young boy actors. This was how I was raised.

The Studios today are owned basically by the Japanese, not Europeans and they have one purpose only for their purchasing several major studios and it was to rake in as much money as possible from the newer generations. People my age are horrified at the films coming out. I have not been in a movie theater for 8 years. I had no television in my home until 1982 when the last of my kids were in college. The world of entertainment did not influence my political points of view.

We were never in awe of Hollywood because we were Hollywood and saw through the grease paint and all the hidden warts. In 1950, Stanford was a school for elite scholars. I was very proud when my kids chose the U of C system over MIT, and Stanford as both accepted their applications.

On another forum I do a running commentary on many of the old Hollywood people I grew up with as simply a point of reference showing my advanced age. I remember a lot of fun stories and share them but not here. I would be driven out of town by Reader Ranters who automatically would call me a snob.

Greger, we are who we are and I offer no apologies for my background. I was accepted at Stanford and chose not to attend because I wanted to be independent. I had spent many years in a boarding school and wanted freedom. I attended Business college and learned writing, spelling, and sentence construction. I've been a technical writer for most of my life. I am a theater freak and worked for 12 years for the actor Will Geer in his Shakespeare theater.

Greger, I do not blame the left for my problems but I would rather have kept America out of the hands of the collectivists. I'm Rand trained and often wondered if I could have made a better stand for individualism had I written more. I was busy raising kids and keeping a large home.
