"Off Topic"...semi-sorta.

I find it pretty astonishing that any person with eyes, ears, and the ability to observe and read truly believes that there is any element or segment (regardless of label) of our political system and/or government that has an ounce of integrity or has a genuine concern for the citizens at large and the overall well being of our nation, which doesn't specifically serve those running for office or in office.

I find absolutely no evidence that any person running for office or holds office has been, is, or even will be a positive change agent for our county for probably decades.

Washington has become a nation unto itself, which uses the balance of what is called the United States of America to supply the necessary resources for it to continue to operate.

Apparently the citizens of our (use to be) great nation has created a monster that it can't rid themselves of. Forget about the word "Sedition". Because the Nation of Washington is in control of the military that serves to protect its interest...whatever and where ever that may be.

As we get closer to the Republican and Democrat Dog and Pony Show, it's clear to me that each of the shameless parties about to embark on their respective conventions continue to enhance their mastery of "watch the bouncing idiot ball" for all the good people who buy into their respective dogmas.

Obama, Romney, and yadda, yadda, yadda...ain't our concerned fellow citizens, friends, or elected officials. There is no party, committee, caucus, machine or individual in the system at the moment - or who is listed as wannbees - who will alter the negative course of our rotten political parties and system of government - as we know it to be today.

The corruption begins when the political ads begin for "Primary Candidates (or the like process) at all levels of government".

I know, I know...ole Gregg is nothing but a Doomsayer and continuously spews out hateful bullsh!t about our political system and government.

Well, I promise that I'll stop being a doomsayer and unloading mass quantities of negative comments when somebody or something can demonstrate or prove to me that I'm off my rocker. Yeah, I know it's hard for crazy people to recognize their own insanity

Last but not least...

Iss...do you honestly believe there exist forces within your chosen party or political affiliation who will turn things around for this country - and who will make every effort to encourage the "governed" to take control, via the constitutional processes and rights, over those they elect to govern?

Do you include the Affordable Care Act and the Lilly Ledbetter Act when you say that the government does not have any concerns for its citizens?

Do you consider the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which was created to cut down on the excesses of predatory businesses who were making so-called "payday loans" to have been contrary to the interests of citizens?

Do you believe that the ax compromise including extensions of child tax credits and marriage-penalty fixes was contrary to the interests of citizens?

Do you believe that closing the Medicare donut hole was contrary to the best interests of citizens?

Do you believe that expansion of SCHIP was contrary to the best interests of citizens, particularly children?

Do you believe that fully funding the Violence Against Women Act was contrary to the best interest of citizens, particularly women?

Do you agree that the signing of an executive order to ban use of torture was contrary to the best interests of citizens, particularly those overseas who were in fear of retaliation by terror groups?

Do you believe that the signing of the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act was contrary to the best interests of citizens, particularly those whose sexual orientation is not heterosexual?

Do you believe that the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" was contrary to the best interests of citizens, particularly those gay, lesbian, etc., who wanted a military career?

Do you think that the recently finished rebuilding of the dikes and pumping stations around New Orleans was contrary to the best interests of citizens, particularly those living in the low-lying areas of New Orleans?

Do you think that stopping the development of a new generation of nuclear weapons was contrary to the best interests of citizens, particularly citizens of the entire world?

Do you think that issuing an executive order banning gifts from lobbyists to employees of the executive branch of the government was contrary to the best interests of citizens?

Do you think that raising the national fleet's fuel efficiency to 35.5 MPG by 2016 was contrary to the best interests of the citizens?

Do you think that getting rid of the restrictions on stem cell research was contrary to the best interests of citizens?

Do you believe that providing full funding for the VA was contrary to the best interests of citizens, particularly veterans and their families?

These are just a few of the things Obama and the Democrats have done in the past 3 1/2 years. If you feel that any of these were not in the best interests of citizens, tell us why. Inquiring minds want to know.

I moved this to a new thread because it seemed to be a good jumping off place for discussions.

Governments ALWAYS serve the interests of the Rich, the Powerful and the Influential.

Governments NEVER serve the interests of the Poor, the Weak and the Ignored -- unless, in some way, such actions also benefit the Rulers even more.

A common reason for window-dressing programs that benefit (or seem to benefit) common people, is to keep them from a true sense of how deeply they are being gulled, and rising up in rage to slit the throats of the Rulers.

No problem, Ted. I stated that my comments were "off topic" semi-sorta.

You named a list of items of which you are asking if I believe those things are NOT in the interest of the citizens or nation.

My answer is...who do you believe writes and/or controls the content of most legislation?

When ObamaCare proposed legislation was completed and up for vote. Every swinging Congressional Member pretty much admitted that they hadn't read the 2000 plus page legislation. If they didn't read it. Then how could they possibly have played a proactive role in its creation? They didn't! They don't! And they won't!

Lobbyist groups, special interest groups...they are the hands that pen our legislation not only at the Federal level, but at the State level as well. I can tell you about the Texas Legislators...and how they operate. But don't won't to burn off my finger prints doing it. I think you already know.

Now if you believe that all of these things that you listed were for OUR BENEFIT...okay, Ted, what can I say? Believe whatever feels right for you. I know that I do.

Thanks for moving my comments. I can see it was really in "my" best interests.

You guys are really cynical. Of course government sometimes acts for the bulk of the population. We have roads don't we? How about FEMA, Medicare, and thousands of other programs?

I think you do a disservice to say it is all corrupt. That makes it impossible to do things that are mutually beneficial because the public mind gets poisoned.

you sound like Republicans of the worst kind.

I've often thought about the union of the States should have more say so from the citizens of those states. It would certainly help if California could be divided in half with half open to the rights of the individual and the rest of the state could declare itself optional. I've spent so many years trying to free the minorities and women from the laws being issued from D.C. I had no idea how much better California was to the minorities than Arizona where I had moved a dozen years before my return. It wasn't just the state laws that were so awful but the residents of the areas around Phoenix.

I spent a year in Lake Havasu City where I had signed up to attend a gun meeting. 10 minutes into the meeting it turned into an Evangelical revival meeting. I went into a state of shock before I realized that I could be in danger. I wore a name tag and realized my commentaries on Etherzone had been published by the same group who put on the revival meeting. I knew where the emergency exit was as this was the same building where the Lions club met and I grabbed my purse and left out the back door. I was stopped by a women from Yuma who told me to drive home with my lights off and stay off the freeway. I did as she said and got home, turned off all the lights and let the dog out on her leash and we headed for bed. I had a Hospice patient the next day and when I got home the south wall of my garage was pushed in. My neighbor told me a bulldozer did it. I put the house on the market the next morning and took the first offer.

Evangelicals are a mean bunch and think nothing of destroying property or even killing what they consider an enemy of Jesus Christ. I moved up near Phoenix and ran into the same hatred. My new neighborhood began to shoot b bs into my black cat. I couldn't believe this kind of hate and stayed 11 years. It got worse. I had been invited to be on the Board of directors of chamber music group until they read one of my articles from Etherzone and then they made it so uncomfortable for me during the meetings that I quit. I was probably the only one who fully understood the music but that was not enough to maintain my efforts for the group. I had only one choice and that was to come home to California. Let Arizona keep their ugly hatred for people.

I fear that this attitude of hatred found in many neighborhoods is based on the Republican Party. It gets worse everytime I even think about it.

I've read enough science fiction to recognize the development of a strong hatred for people who are different. I just need to find my kind of people. In many areas there are people arming themselves against UFOs. Even in peaceful Palm Desert that are people joining clubs who search for anyone slightly different and then they gang up and force them out. Why? I am stimulated by people who are different. My kids found this park and bought me a unit within it. When I tell someone where I live, I'm questioned about why I didn't move to the park across the street. I have no idea why except I love my unit here and how nice they keep the grounds and the pools. We have a golf course in the middle and not a cigarette butt can be found. My neighbors are nervous about any new resident but I have been accepted just fine. Welcome Wagon ran for her life when two of my cats wanted to see who was at the door. She is terrified of black cats. I guess there is one in every neighborhood. Of course I didn't make it better by telling her there is a third one but she is dead. That woman will never come back again.

Oh, Phil...you just made me laugh out loud. I guess it's okay to sell our souls to the company store, huh?

If our government, or should I say elected officials in our government were proactive participants...rather than being a huge hand sticking out looking for money to stay in office and willing to sell their grandmas to get it...then things might be different.

At what cost do we, the American public, have all of the things you mentioned in your post? Or does that matter to you? Is there any limit on what things cost us as far as your concern? And I'm not just talking about money. We are systematically being edged out of having any control over our government. They are completely shameless as it is.

Look, Phil...like I posted in response to Ted. If you chose believe that our government is engaging in business that serves the best interest of the citizens...our nation. Groovy! I choose not to believe that our government is working in our best interests...in oh so many ways.

Now...if you believe I sound like the worst Republicans ever...would you snuff out all of the Republicans now alive and participating in our form of government (including everyday voters who vote Republican)...if you had the power to do so...snuff them all out without consequence? Would you?

Divide and Conquer is working...or would you disagree about that, too? That comment sound "too Republican"?

Where did you get all that about snuffing? I said nothing about it and never would.

Then how else can the poor people of the U.S. be rid of such terrible Republican people and their opinions?

Snuffing them all out...wouldn't that the best case scenario for America...have a single party system so their is no opposition opinions or government? And please understand, I'm not talking just about Republicans. It could be the other way around.

Okay, okay. Using the word SNUFF is a little dramatic. Lets say "Disappear". How's that?

I do hear people imply, more and more, just how much better off America would be without the conservatives or the liberals or the Republicans, or the Democrats. REALLY?

Last I remember - terrible, horrible Republicans have the same right to opinions as do non-terrible, horrible republicans.

BTW, I'm not a Republican. Nor am I a Democrat. I have no political allegiance.
