Can one find a more innocuous treaty? Bob Dole showed up in a wheel chair to urge Republicans to vote in favor - only McCain, Lugar, Brown, Snowe, Collins, Ayotte, Barrasso and Murkowski were awake. OK, guys, we know you hate the U.N. but somehow I don't expect the U.N. to trump state laws and override parents.

Even Kerry pleading "Do not let Sen. Bob Dole down" didn't work.

This is despicable. I didn't even agree with Bob Dole on quite a few issues but I have to admit, he was a respectable lawmaker for the most part.
He also had a wicked sense of humor, too.
