Just to be clear: watching a game is not the issue. Changing the way money affects the game is. Professional sports has never been more successful. That was in the original post on this thread where a local TV contract is worth over 250M a year. Attendance is rising and TV revenues continue to accelerate. In our four major sports the competition has never been better especially the introduction of foreign born players. The NHL, NBA and MLB are now international in both performers and exposure.

[quote=Ezekiel] I find that most every professional sport becomes a stygian cesspool of corruption because of the money. Doesn't everything within the human realm? What does this say about those who seek money as a priority and those who support their efforts. People like to entertained. What about those who watch mindless reality TV? The difference, dear, as if the difference really needs to be pointed-out, is that pro-players get the money upfront. "Reality TV players" get the money at the back-end AND after they earn the money first. "If" said reality TV player wins - it's only a measly million. Helllloooo... We can only wish that pro-players made a measly million The people who watch reality TV(not the contestants) don't receive any money-They just rot their brains out on ridiculous fluff that isn't reality, anymore than soap operas are, dear.

Golly, did someone pee-pee in your Cheerios this morning? Until someone shows me that the Amazing Race is somehow contrived, I'll just chalk the comment up to cranky unloading...

Sounds like there just might be some contrivance in there, rick. Bunching, where teams are constantly grouped together due to bottlenecks such as chartered flights and pre-planned hours of operation of businesses.
The confrontational, arrogant, defeatist, and sometimes abusive behavior presented by certain players, most notably Flo (Season 3), Colin (Season 5) and Jonathan (Season 6).
The stunt casting of teams where producers have tended to cast models, actors and, more recently, past reality show stars.
Making clues less cryptic in later seasons; e.g., directing teams to a specific location as opposed to giving them a clue or picture that they must decipher in order to find their next destination.
The design of challenges, especially those requiring eating large volumes of food or that require 'needle in a haystack' searching.
The introduction of the Yield, and the reduction in the number of Fast Forwards available.
Over reliance of teams on local assistance and Ferns (Local people that volunteer to go along with teams have been coined by fans as Ferns, based on the name of one of the first people to volunteer to help navigate a team (Oswald & Danny, Season 2) while they completed the tasks in that leg) instead of relying on self-navigation.
The nature of the last leg of the race where luck becomes more important than racing skill.
Excessive product placement, particularly in recent seasons such as Season 8,
The amount of spoiler information generated during some seasons, such as Season 7 and All-Stars. Link

Quiz show scandals of the 50s.
Sometimes on reality shows certain segments are reenacted. Look for it at the end of the show as this was mentioned in a review I saw of "Amish Mafia."

The Amazing Race is nothing but a pro-longed game show. It is contrived to draw ratings and revenue through advertising. Nobody does this stuff in real life. They apply to compete in a game. Most of TV, reality or otherwise is escapism. It is designed to draw ratings. The more ratings, the higher the price people can command for their performances. Wow, Reality TV Really Does Pay! Read How Much The Real Housewives Earn Do I watch Reality TV? Yes, I do. But I know it's not "real", and I know they get paid. The amount doesn't matter. PS, Nobody peed in my Cheerios(I don't eat them). But I am tired of the "holier-than-thou" attitude.
