The Moody Blues nearly drove me insane. This was the song that my older girl played over and over. I figured it was a test of my sanity to see if I could endure another day of being a Mother.

Some memories of my beautiful girls have been wonderful but the day the Grateful Dead and Moody Blues enter my world of Bach and Opera, I seriously thought about running away from home. My older girl headed off to Berkeley and took all her tapes with her and I knew there was a god in Berkeley. I had Elvis Presley for 6 years prior to the Moody Blues and it help just slightly. Brick would come home from high school and see me washing the white tile floors in our family room and run, not walk, to his room and bring the perfect music to wash white tiles. One cannot divorce the children.
I've had some dizzy spells but it is just old age. Thanks Joe.

Hey Scout. hows about weaving your sugar cookie recipe into my life? I'm not happy with the one I have and yours is tried and true. I've got 25 pounds of flour, 10 pounds of sugar, 7 pounds of butter and plenty of nuts and spices on hand as the Baking Season looms. Oh crikey I need white chocolate chips...there's always something. Don't forget the Almond extract, Vanilla -- the real kind as in pod or extract. Also, you need brandy for the fruitcake, currants for the Dundee Cake, honey for both, a good single malt for the cook.

I've had some dizzy spells but it is just old age. Thanks Joe. Sandy, I felt and feel your pain. These days there's a rock band in the flat and building that abuts mine, as in there is 12 inches of brick enclosing air, separating my office from their music, and the air is a poor insulator against the drums, guitar amps, voices only loosely connected to the idea of full whole steps and half steps that are really halfway between the notes. They also have some machine or other that urges these musical miscreants to repeat their errors again and again. And again. My head was about to explode last Sunday. The headache lasted for days, and not once did they hear me yell, "Tune the freaking bass guitar, would you?" They don't need A440, but if the instruments were in tune with eachother, agreeing on at least 7 of 8 notes in any given octave, I'd be happier. Being the Christmas season, I didn't call the Music Police. But, now that I know there's only a god in Berkeley for these sorts of things, I'll at least stop hoping for any action here in the Heartland. It's good to know you're still kicking up a storm out there Sandy. BTW, what is the perfect music for scrubbing floors? I've yet to find it, but am partial to Handel's Water Music, simply because it makes the bucket and suds seem to work better.

Got all that on hand, George Dickel #12 for the cook. Fabio Viviani's Apple Cake looks like it might be a winner this year too.
Good coffee, good weed, and time on my hands...
