You know Beck has also suggested we all need to buy gold too. But not the gold ingots that have something like a 1% buy/sell spread (because THE GUBMINT might come and take them!) And not the gold ETF shares that have an even lower spread and you can buy for any account you have at a brokerage. You NEED to buy those special "collectable" gold coins that have a price of more than 50% over their gold content value... MAGIC BEANS FOR SALE! GETCHUR MAGIC BEANS BEFORE THEY ARE ALL GONE!

I figgered since I's trained, Ic'n operate it safe-like on the publick thurfares. (Actually, I could, but I'm 20 or so years out of practice, so I'd probably start in an empty parking lot to get the feel back. Proper operation requires at least two crew members, since shooting and driving would probably violate distracted-driver rules.)

I have not heard about any Democratic Congressmen, Governers, State Assemblymen, etc. proposing restrictions on normal retail ammo sales. From the article: "Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, D-N.Y., has introduced legislation that would effectively ban online sales of ammunition, would require ammunition sellers to have a license, and to report to federal authorities the sale of more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition to a single person." California lawmaker introduces gun ammunition-control bill "Skinner's proposal seeks to: - Require ammunition dealers to be licensed - Buyers must present identification - All sales are to be reported to the California Department of Justice with local law enforcement notified when transactions involve large quantities Blumenthal wants background checks on ammunition buyers "U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said Tuesday he plans to introduce a bill later this month that would require instant background checks for the sale of bullets. He also said the bill is only the first gun-control proposal he aims to introduce "in the coming weeks and months."" Governor Cuomo Signs Groundbreaking Legislation "Under the legislation, New York will ... run instant background checks on all ammunition purchases at the time of sale. The legislation will allow authorities to track ammunition purchases in real time to alert law enforcement to high volume buys,..." Ammunition background checks among concerns as gun law passes "Ammunition purchasers will soon submit to background checks under a sweeping set of new gun laws adopted Tuesday by state lawmakers. Both sides of the debate expect the requirement to drastically impact firearms dealers. The state Assembly approved the massive bill — which immediately institutes outright bans on freshly redefined assault weapons — in a party-line and geographic vote Tuesday." A bill has been reintroduced in Congress "The 113th Congress has already brought pointed action on gun control, with the introduction of two bills to amend U.S. firearm laws. One bill proposed by Democratic Reps. Carolyn McCarthy of New York and Diana DeGette of Colorado would ban the sale of ammunition online. ... McCarthy’s legislation would require anyone selling ammunition to be a licensed dealer and any buyer to present photo identification at the time of purchase, effectively eliminating online and mail-order sales. Dealers would also be required to report any purchase of more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition to law enforcement." California lawmakers urged to toughen state's gun and ammunition laws "The proposals would, among other actions, regulate and tax ammunition sales and end the "grandfathering" of weapons that are now illegal to purchase but still legal to possess." Glad to see that there are responsible legislators working on this issue.

Like I said: Nothing to interfere with normal retail ammo sales. If there is actually someplace that lets you buy thousands of rounds without presenting ID, or even proof that you are an adult, then that crap has to stop RIGHT NOW.
But I looked through all of those linked stories, and I did not see anything that would prevent a normal, sane gun owner from buying a few boxes of ammo for a hunting trip or a visit to the range.
Some of those "new restrictive requirements" don't even take effect until 2018, even though they should have been in place for decades.
And just as I suspected, the article about California said a government agency has identitifed over 20,000 people who they believe are armed while on the "no guns allowed" list. I suppose these might be some of the people who will have a difficult time buying ammo in the near future! Good!

Oh goodnes, PIA, tap-dance all you want, but, in the end, you will still be as wrong as you were when you made your erroneous claim regardless of how you may now wish to redefine "normal retail ammo sales". And, what you think should stop RIGHT NOW", hasn't got squat to do with it. Yours in good humor, Issodhos

There's a shortage of Surface Pro 128GB. People can tap dance all around the issue, but that doesn't refute that fact that Democratic, Constitution-hating Statist are regulating them off the market.

Although I expected no less from the title of the thread, I have seen no local shortage, The article did not say there were shortages at all gun shops, NWP. But thank you for letting me that a shortage now seems to mean nothing more than a distribution issue rather than a demand/supply issue (at least when politically convenient:-)). One does have to wonder what distribution difficulties you think may have suddenly occurred (other than your brilliant manufacturer conspiracy theory). Any way, I stopped in at a Gander Mountain store yesterday which is about an hour away from the local Co-op I visited earlier and the ammunition shelves had a better supply of centerfire ammo (but still short on .223, .45, .357 calibers). But, the shelves were not short of .22 rimfire, they were completely empty of .22 rimfire. Given that most people who own one or more firearms, probably own a .22 rifle, it becomes interesting from a demographics point of view. The more Democrats trot out their pandering little ammo schemes, the more entertaining the mid-terms will be. Let's see, Repubs now pandering to the Hispanic voter by caving on amesty for illegal aliens and Dems once again trying to screw with American gun owners, it might be a wash, or, since hispanic Americans also exercise their right to own and use firearms, it could be a tie breaker. Cool. Yours, Issodhos
