Idol? - computer says 'no'. lol....I've seen lots of All in the Family! Grey Gardens last night was....strange. Loud (hectic) from a suthern woman's prospective but interesting. Netflix was a gift from the kids. They keep trying to 'upgrade' us and on some level it is working. It is convenient.

I have to admit I love getting TV shows this way (Netflix)- my time remains completely mine, and it's a great deal cheaper than a monthly cable fee plus TiVo. We went this direction also. We could not imagine paying cable fees. And broadcast TV is going down the toilet. Lately it seems like programming is simply an interruption of commercials. But what is worse, much of the programming is so awful one would not want to watch it even without commercials. Anyway, Netflix seems a great way to go, lots of material available. And the system they have makes it easy explore what other people are watching and are interested in. I like to find something a little unusual that we liked... and then see who else like that... and what other things they found to be interesting. In doing that, we have found that we like many Gay themed films. This was a little of a surprise for us.
Wouldn't you love to know/see how it was turned into a musical?

I've also been watching (via the same source) the first season of a show called "Dead Like Me." I don't think it's that great - but Mandy Patinkin? I'll give it a couple more episodes. I thought Patinkin was on some think-like-the-killer show. What am I missing?

Mandy Patinkin is hot--and a good actor--'cause he's so totally OUT THERE!
Ha Martha! I believe you're right. It did become a musical didn't it? I usually like people who are half mad so in that respect I did like it. It gave me a headache though from all the loud snipping back and forth. Sheesh

One of the things I like best about summer is that the TV rarely goes on. Everything is repeats on the main channels, and I have no desire to watch mind-numbing reality or game shows (I don't get HBO or any of the better cable stations). Presently, I'm house sitting for a friend up in the foothills west of Boulder. She has access to the Bravo station (another I can't access), and tapes one of my favorite shows, The Actors Studio with James Lipton. During my two week stay, I get to relax, with cat in lap, and watch every new show since my last visit. I love that show! For those who might not know what it is, James Lipton interviews a different actor (or director, writer, etc.) each show and gives one a peak at them as "real" people, not the glitzy celebrities that other interviewers seek. The audience is comprised of wanna-be actors, directors and writers. So far this week I've watched Jodie Foster, Michael J. Fox, Matt Damon, Martin Sheen and Mark Ruffalo. (Oh, and Al Pacino - how could I forget Al Pacino!!) All very entertaining. Tonight's a 2-hour session with Clint Eastwood - can't wait! Oh, and I'm also been watching a very curious fox each evening who wanders up on the deck each night and checks things out.
