Our esteemed colleague from Minnesota was just pointing out earlier today that there is a fundamental difference between the light-hearted, jesting kind of name-calling that is frequently heard and seen in the right-wing media and the vicious, mean-spirited kind of name-calling that comes from the left. I recall from yesterday's RT that the esteemed Senator made an example of the good Pastor from Ill-In-Noise, stating that his name-calling "typifies" the hate-filled left.

Clearly, in all the time that I have been reading the Pastor's scribblings, it had never occurred to me to call him down for what seemed acceptable license, considering his experience and his position vis-a-vis the clergy. Indeed, it seems not to have occurred to anyone here, including our ever vigilant and fair-minded Moderators and Administrators, to utter a word of chastisement for his daily infractions.

I should be grateful, I am sure, that my friend from Chi-town will be imposed upon to adhere to the standards of civility that presumably govern this board. They are, after all, standards that I strive to meet myself. I expect I should express my gratitude to the good Senator from Minnesota for his moderating influence. I'll wait for those feelings of gratitude, to see if they come.

Perhaps we leftists, in our clumsy attempts at humor, just have no idea how mean-spirited we come across to our sensitive and gentle colleagues across the ideological divide. How can we laugh at a person being described as "fat" and yet fail to find the humor in "Hitlary" or "Barack Osama"? It's a puzzle. I'll sit with it a while. Maybe it will come to me.

That would make me SO MAD!

Tomatoes are frustrating. There's so much time elapses between the first flower and the first bite of ripe fruit. So many things that can go wrong. I had bad luck with blossom end rot for two years and then the blight last year. This year's crop was unexpected to say the least, considering the drought.

Yeah, Dean's looking mighty and unstoppable. Last year, remember we dodged all the bullets, with very few powerful Atlantic storms and none of them hitting the mainland. The Global Warming Fear is upon me! Every storm that comes along, I'm thinking "OMG it's going to be SO BIG because of GW!" Pathetic, eh?

yo, stare- ee-o- man. dude! My friend, If I may, as it were. I have a bone to pick. . .

I am proudly librul, but . . . .
NEVER never ever insult me by calling me that horrid label of humourist. not even a
femourist, a radii-ist, a pelvist, or an ulnist. that said, and much more left unsed, unseeded and unsod, (damn those sodding saydistical sodists and sadists)
I am the breast man that I can be, from an anatomical perspective. And I have yet to see a view I did not like.

HHHHMMM upon reflection, and re-reading das Rules, I see that I did that &at &astard a "dis"-service. (moron that below) oops.

When, in the future, I refer to Rep. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill-future resident of a federal facility near you) I promise and insure, to ensure, assure, and further promise to call him by his future, accurate title. "The Honorable Convict Dennis Hastert". According to the latest scoop from inside the bloatway, the real reason for his forced self removal from the political scene is based more on Arbamofian testimony, than some sudden need to spend time with his adult, self-sufficient, self-supporting, and married kids.

So, to those that I offended, I apologize. I will never call that morbidly obese, criminally minded, syncophantic, former speaker of the house DENNIS HASTERT a fat bastard, or anything similar again.

For one thing, I would seriously regret insulting his mommy. And without knowing his true pedigree, I agree that it is totally inappropriate, illlogical (almost approaching the uncanny ways of Ann and Sean and Billo and Michelle) and way too rude to name him a bastard. So, Mr. Congresscritter Hastert, I apologize for saying anything rude. And when your upcoming indictments come out of the grand jury, I assure you that the best GOP white color criminal defense attorneys will be there for you. Chicago's Big Bill Thompson still is in charge of his firm and he would LOVE to share his page-experiences with someone like you.

mmm mmmm mmmm mmmm
Foley? Did anyone say Foley? NO? REALLY?
sorry. that was a slip of the keyboard.

agnostic, what is it about Illinois and Chicago in particular that breeds such a high quality of politicians? After Honest Abe it seems to have gone downhill fast and stayed there.
