Welcome to the RoundTable for the second week of September, 2013

The Man before burning

The man burns

Burning man is a unique experience. If you are pretty far to the radical side of life and don't mind lots of dust and rather primitive living, make the journey. Some say it is like hippie times, but it is much more than that.

My Burning Man experience: The world is and I am the way it is; to the extent that I resist I will suffer; to the extent that I let it be I am free to enjoy and empower.

And, in other matters:

You have to accept whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best that you have to give.

No burning man here, but a burning mountain at the moment. The fire is only five miles from me:

Fire burned over 300 additional acres over night, now up to 1100 acres since 11:00 last night. I, just now, went out onto the porch to look at the fire, and I scared a sleeping bat! What's a bat doing sleeping on my porch?!? He scared me more that I scared him, I'm sure!

I was thinking that, maybe, the li'l guy's home burned-up (the bat) and he doesn't have anywhere to live anymore. shocked I'm not sure how far bats fly, but, I'm really not that far from the fire, either. Hmm

Plus, I left my front door wide-opened when I went to check the fire and I was thinking: what if the bat flew into the house and Sammy and Bob were in the house and it bit one of them. gobsmacked

...and how I'd have to call Animal Control and be late for work. crazy

Five miles away ain't very far, are you in a good spot relative to the fire? I'm worried about ya, li'l buddy! (now I feel like you're Gilligan and I'm the Skipper rolleyes)

I'm good. I'm Safe and Sound. smile

While at work today, the fire spread to 3700 acres. A co-worker is directly affected by the fire. She didn't come to work, today. Her brother-in-law works with us too and he said the Sheriff ordered them to leave their house yesterday and instead, they choose to ignore their order and "hid" in their house with the lights off.

Stupid, stupid, woman. Apparently, she's and/or her ex-cop husband have never heard of a fire "jumping"? She has a twelve year old daughter - talk about child endangerment - seriously, Child Protective Services should be called.

I've lost all respect for her. mad
