Now, Schlack, haven't I emphasized several times that all of us have an "inner fascist" that needs to be controlled? The fact that I may be better at controlling mine is no reason to hate me.:-))

And, come to think of it, I do remember referencing "anti-gun nazis" once. Probably in reaction to some routine slur used in this forum when referring to anyone supporting the private ownership and use of firearms.;-)

Oh, I'm not mocking you, Eric. I was just having some fun with you because of the assumptions you made about me.:-)

I think the climate is warming. I do not think that man is the cause of it. I think man is now a minor contributor to it. I do not think the catastrophic environgelical "End Times" orgasmic scenario is even remotely likely. I think there are valid reasons for engaging in conservation but global warming isn't one of them. I think the usual suspects learned from their 1970's "global cooling, new ice age" scam that the next one would have to be more sophisticated so now everything that occurs in the weather is factored in as being a result
of "global warming" -- especially the extra cold spells -- especially with content hungry 24 hours news looking for anything to peddle to mass-man.:-)

I also think that the global warming whiners are made up of some who are pushing global warming as a way of attacking and hopefully severely damaging America simply because they really, really hate America. And there are others who see it as an opportunity to concentrate more power in the federal government to be used to 're-engineer' the populus. I think there are enviromentalists that would like nothing better than to push the American people into a ecotopian fantasy which would quickly result in the deaths of millions of Americans -- putting us on the path toward a 'sustainable' population -- the holy grail of
some environmentalists who not only really, really hate people but also hate everything about a non-communal America. I think there are others who see it as a way of reducing America's use of materials relative to other countries -- calling it justice of one sort or another. I think many global warming whiners are those who believe anything a guy in a lab coat tells them. I think good ol fear is being put to good use by those playing the global warming is man-made and we must just stop! stop! Stop!!!

Stop what? Why, stop being Americans, of course. It seems when the term "man-made" is used, what is really being said -- and at some point it tends to come back round -- is global warming is "American-made".:-)

I also get quite skeptical when the word "consensus" is tossed around, or when "case closed" is used to stifle discussion, or when the Holocaust related term "denier" is used against anyone who does not accept the "end times' scenario -- even if they agree that the climate appears to be warming -- and get quite bored with those who shake the latest picture or link that purportedly supports their claim of golbal warming (as though I am supposed to think they are objectively presenting objective statistics or data);-).

How do I think the "global warming" scare will play out? The climate will do what it will do just as it has always done, and for the same reasons. Man will do what he does best, improvise, adapt, and succeed. If not, its been real.;-)

one wonders why you keep bringing such people into the discussion rather than actually evauating any evidence or synopses of evidence.

For what it's worth; It seems to be another way for the people of America to ask (possibly demand) that the government step in on the subject of global warming and stop it! Only Big Daddy can stop the destruction of our planet.

No one is doubting the fact that the earth may be getting warmer. But does anyone realize that this is a cycle of weather that will go from hot to cool probably based on the actions from the sun. Americans cannot cope with a natural cycle of weather so they line up to ask the Big Daddy in the White House to do something as the Big Daddy in the sky seems to have forsaken us all.

Our planet swirls around on a lopsidded axis. The planet is alive with movement and earthquakes and weather changes and apparently occupied by a bunch of idiots.

So let's all line up and march to D.C. and demand prohibitions to keep the earth from getting warmer. There are many scientists who are predicting another ice age. Get on your knees folks and bring back the Sky Daddy to America so we will all be saved.

Or we could try to protect ourselves by preparing for a rise in temperaturs. Has anyone discovered a cheap de-sal operation? If our oceans are going to rise due to melted ice are we preparing to move to the inner part of America? How about straightening up the axis of our planet? No wait, Bruce Willis is the only one who can do that and he seems to be busy.

So, who is in charge of the global warming prohibitions? Let me know what I have to do to change my habits because you all know I dissolved the sky daddy in my world years ago.

i understand the Sun cycles theory to have been debunked at this stage. whereas there is no doubt the sun does affect climate at this stage in the various cycles we shouldnt be warming - according to the archaelogical records - ill try to dig out a link, the stuff ir ead was in some books - ahh so old fashioned.

i understand the majority of research points to the latest cycle of global warming to be largely man made. this is the basis for my understanding.

as for big daddy sorting things out, i think any real change will have to be on a personal level, what each individual can do. a bit of good old fashioned personal responsability. not buying a second car for instance, not taking too many flights. relatively minor modifications in behaviour will be able to achieve so much. even something as simple as watching your energy use - like the old cliche of Dad turing off all the lights and radiators that arent being used! not much will change until people take responsability for their own actions.

now that even the oil companies have accepted the scientific consensus on the matter, i suspect we will be seeing a lot less biased junk science like this piece mentioned.

I suggest those who claim they can solve global warming start small. Make it stop raining in Portland, OR for a month during the winter. How about making enough rain so folks in Tuscon can have a green lawn rather then cement or desert themes. How about making it rain to fill up Lake Mead. You would think this would be simple stuff for the global warming gods. Once someone can prove how humans control the weather/climate by doing some simple stuff, then maybe people will believe the global warming gods can change the globe. But we all know they will say the only solution is turning your life over to the govt gods. It's for your own good.
