So let us be blunt about it: we must use the doctrine of religious liberty to gain independence for Christian schools until we train up a generation of people who know that there is no religious neutrality, no neutral law, no neutral education, and no neutral civil government. Then they will get busy in constructing a Bible-based social, political and religious order which finally denies the religious liberty of the enemies of God.
Gary North, Christianity and Civilization, Spring, 1982 You do not know where I've been. When I was drafted, because of my religion, which believes that the commandment "Thou Shalt Not Kill" is both literal and absolute, was allowed to be inducted as CO and be trained as a medic. I was insulted often by my DI through most of boot camp in an attempt to get me to disavow my faith. On my tour, I entered LZs unarmed, and at times under-fire. I was personal witness to a cornucopia of unnatural human death. Upon my return I discovered that although I was still a believer, I was without salvation's reach. This was for a reason I've not seen frequently advanced: if my salvation is predicated upon drinking the blood of someone else's wrongfully executed innocent son, even if it is only a symbolic act, then I will to stand with the damned; I've had my fill of innocents' blood. I struggled with this paradox in the desolation of my own private wilderness. I no longer believe, but I know the rules, and if anyone is going to claim the faith around me, they had better not be carrying a corked cross, and they must stay within the baseline's chalked path, or I will call them out at the plate. This is my right as a free human, and I've earned the right. Also, this is not your fight, so I apologise for the intensity.

I agree that the GOP has become unsupportable. This is why I have become convinced that our only hope is a viable 3rd party.
In real life, when 2 parties reach an impasse, usually an independent 3rd party is brought in (often a mediator or judge)to moderate the situation and find areas of agreement.
In my profession, I talk to business people all over the country. Despite the political differences, there is one thing in common that they all share.....They all have made the following statement! "If I ran my business the way the gov't ran theirs, I wouldn't have a business in nothing flat."
Perhaps a 3rd party should be based on common sense and back to basics. Maybe then people would vote FOR someone instead of AGAINST someone!
Unfortunately, the Libertarian party is not the answer. Their main focus is to eliminate the income tax and will not nominate a candidate that does not actively advocate this issue. However, I do believe that many Libertarians would support Ron Paul especially since he ran for President once before as a Libertarian.
