I'd like it, Ma, if you'd weigh in on weightier topics, or are we to assume that you are already in agreement? I know, it is hard for a thinking person to find a Republican policy to support anymore, but you could try.
A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

...from the story linked above: "If you love the people on the bus, you should support us because we're stopping the government from putting them out on the streets," he said. "This is about resources, not race." Typical Wingnut spin, try to paint intentions in a good light while knowingly and willingly really doing the opposite. I believe this is the definition of a sociopath.

So I only post what is important, and there is nothing more important than what is going on with immigration. It seems odd that the Administration would support an invasion of the southern US, but after watching him for 6 years I have come to believe that his sympathies may lie elsewhere.

I don't for a second believe that you believe the last sentence, Ma, and that is where communication tends to break down. There is no need to throw out red meat here. It serves no purpose.
I happen to agree that immigration is in dire need of being addressed, but the concerns that you and I hold on the topic are completely different. Immigration is a reality, and, indeed, a necessary reality. Immigrants, particularly Mexican, Central and South American immigrants are vital part of the agricultural and service economy. They displace virtually no one in the existing economy.
The system currently in place is flawed in concept and disastrous in execution, in no small part because of ideological grandstanding in Congress. There is a huge untapped revenue stream that is deliberately being ignored. I saw one estimate that if 2/3 of the existing "illegal" workforce were brought into the tax system through some "legitimizing" mechanism, Social Security and Medicare solvency would be extended at least 15 years, and, potentially, permanently. It could also pay for the necessary upgrades in the monitoring systems for ICE.
Some of the concerns that have been expressed (like those in Murrieta) are not just overblown, they are contrary to evidence. I think we need to take a realistic approach and follow sound policy, not react to emotions and ignore facts. But, for a particular segment of the polity, stirring controversy is exactly the game. Nothing motivates unthinking adherence like fear.
A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Except that President Obama has deported more illegal immigrants than any other president since Reagan(who initiated the first amnesty). He is calling for reform-not the wholesale collapse of borders. That is just Faux News hyperbole. Maybe if you weren't listening to their lies, your BP would improve.

Let's take a look at some unbiased calculations: - A study by the the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office that found the immigration reform bill would shrink the deficit by $197 billion over the next decade.
- A study by the Brookings Institution's Hamilton Project that found an increase in immigrant workers may lead to a boost in wages for U.S-born workers.
The majority of the American people appear behind such a change as well. Some 75 percent of Americans say that granting undocumented immigrants legal status would be good for the economy, Pew Research reported in June. Undocumented Immigrants Would Pay Billions More In Taxes If Allowed To Work Legally: Study Undocumented Immigrants' State and Local Tax Contributions (So much for the "deadbeat" canard... wait, thank you for that contribution, Ma) Improving Lives, Strengthening Finances: The Benefits of Immigration Reform to Social Security (" If undocumented immigrants acquire legal status and citizenship, they will contribute far more to the Social Security system than they will take out and will strengthen the solvency of Social Security over the next 36 years.") Economic impact of illegal immigrants in the United States ("Economic activity produced by illegal immigrant spending employs about 5% of the total US workforce.") UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS IN TEXAS: A Financial Analysis of the Impact to the State Budget and Economy ("The Texas State Comptroller reported in 2006 that the 1.4 million illegal immigrants in Texas alone added almost $18 billion to the state's budget, and paid $1.2 billion in state services they used.")
