A Cessna waddles down the runway and if you yank the stick it will shudder and bounce off the tarmac and eventually try to gain some lift but more often than not you're really just stalling repeatedly while four feet off the ground.

And that's what my old boss insisted was his own version of STOL.
Linda was the canary in the coal mine...her stream of projectile blouse emesis was louder than the stall alarms and her note was a third interval above the musical pitch of the alarms.

It was like she was in a vomit choir with the buzzers.

These little STOL planes on the other hand, almost look like my dog sitting up to beg for a biscuit!
