He pleaded guilty. So he's guilty. But now he says he's not guilty. So he's guilty of lying. He's also going to get a big pension. So he's guilty of stealing from the taxpayers. He's a thief and a lying hypocrite. And he's not gay - never has been. But he certainly doesn't think much of gays, or their rights. So he's an [censored]. He's a lying gay-hating [censored] hypocrite who hates freedom and is going to be leeching off the government for the rest of his miserable life.

But he has very precise diction!

All that you mention is wrapped up in the guilt of his own hypocrisy, wouldn't you agree?

I have to say: I really hate the kind of policies he has supported over the years, the way he's voted on issues that are important to me, and I hate some of the things he's said, now that I know what they are. But I really feel sorry for him, for what he was doing. Have any of you ever tried to find a sex partner in a public rest room? I sure haven't. Heck, I feel sorry for people who look for a sex partner in a bar. But a rest room? Finding a person to share the most beautiful and exciting physical experience most of us ever have in an airport bathroom?

I mean, it must really suck to be him.

Yeah, literally wink

Sorry, I couldn't resist, but yes, I thought the same thing. How sad that it would have to come to that just to have sexual gratification.

C'mon everyone, sing along, Karaoke style!

[He] was looking for love in all the wrong places
Looking for love in too many faces

God bless the day [he] discovered
Another heart, lookin' for love

I don't feel sorry for the guy one iota and here's why:

Because of his policies, positions, and attitude, he forced a lot of other men into the same predicament as he made them feel ashamed of being who they are.

Can you imagine being gay in Idaho for the past 25 years hearing your state Senator rail against who you are and therefore suppressing it and "trying" to live the st8 lifestyle because of it?

It's not that I feel sorry for him, just mystified why someone in his position would feel that this is the only way to find sexual gratification. Boy, you must want sex bad to take those kind of chances.

The only reasonable explanation for somebody in his position to do this is that he finally just lost control of his compulsions. Maybe this was not so much sexual behavior as mental illness. He may not even have a homosexual orientation: He just lost it and sought the dirtiest thing possible. From his point of view, that was sex in a restroom with another man. I would not be too surprised to see him develop Tourette's or turn up with a brain tumor in the near future.

I know plenty of gay people (even one of my favorite relatives) who lead happy lives and have normal relationships with people they date or partner with. Craig's story is nothing like this.

Rick, be serious now. Do you know anyone who is in the closet because their US Senator supports anti-gay legislation? One in a million, I'll grant you. But as others have pointed out, and c'mon, you must be aware, this guy isn't (just) gay. He's sick.

You live in a place where there is a large gay community. So do I. Most of my gay friends weren't born here, they came here. They came here of their own accord, because they knew this was a reasonably gay-friendly place, and there was a strong gay community here. There are gay clubs, gay bars, gay civic organizations, gay chat groups, gay classifieds . . . no one has to look for sex in the bathroom because our two (Republican) Senators are virulently anti-gay.

Good point! Even without the "gay" thing, the incident shows what kind of judgement is present in the Senate in the GOP, in place of statesmanship.

What is left for someone like Craig to turn to? I suspect he has already found Jesus, like Vick did recently. Bill Maher commented that that pesky Jesus just keeps popping up out of hiding to folks in the news who have never heard about Jesus before...

Maher also noted that the GOP deserted Craig, like Jesus would have done!
