Trumps poll numbers have tanked nationally and in the key battlegrounds. It is still 3 months away from the election and convention bounce fades to kick in. I'm pretty sure that Trump has said to Reince Priebus that he'll quit the race if things don't start to go his way and that is why the RNC is looking for a back-up. Could you imagine if a major party candidate quit before the election? Donald Trump is thin-skinned enough just to do that. It would be historic and one that college professors will be lecturing on for decades.
