It barely even qualifies as terrible. Certainly not to the degree where I would lose my mind to the point of thinking Trump was the solution...

For the most part, in NYC, the majority think Trump was behind it We're a cynical lot...

Everything terrifies Republicans. Even though violent crime is way down, "protection from others" is now the most cited reason for buying a gun. Fox News has created a lot of pussies.

There was a call in on NPR this morning to two experts on radicalization and terrorism. One person (an averred Trump supporter) called in and said everyone should carry guns. One of the experts responded quite forcefully that since 9/11 94 people in the US have died from terrorism, and 152,000 from gun violence. He pointed out that the odds were 1500 greater of being shot by a neighbor than killed by a terrorist.
A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.
Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

Your risk of being killed in a car crash (one in 19,000), drowning in your bathtub (one in 800,000), or being struck by lightning (one in 5.5 million) far exceed your risk of dying from terrorism (one in 20 million).

I knew there was a reason I wasn't terrified.

Having a gun in the home actually makes women LESS safe. The numbers are very clear. If women want to be safer, they should get rid of the guns.
The basic problem with everybody carrying a gun, is that "Stand Your Ground" laws say that a shooter simply has to be afraid of the person he shoots. What if the person waving a gun around is actually an undercover cop? He frightened me, so I killed him. Or a similarly frightened neighbor? These laws do nothing but encourage people to shoot at each other, the survivor claims he was frightened, and walks. The dead guy doesn't get to explain that HE was frightened!

I knew there was a reason I wasn't terrified. Neither was I. But sheesh loggy it would have been if you or I were near to the blasts. These “lone wolf” guys are going to keep on carrying on. Much to our chagrin. AM radio taken to Jihad. There is a very fine line.
Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

There is a very fine line. I am attempting a Zen de-escalation tactic... the purpose of terrorism is to terrify people into irrational and self-destructive response all out of scale to the triggering event. The correct response to terrorist acts is to not be gulled into irrational and self-destructive behavior - such as our irrational and self-destructive behaviors post 9/11. Trump's best chance of winning the election is if people who are terrified easily fall for his con that he can make them safe - safe from things that do not even threaten them. Trump is riding the terrorists' wave... on second thought, Trump is a terrorist, he just doesn't use bombs and things to stimulate terror.

Fear mongering - an old tactic updated and made popular by a fellow named Hitler. Extensively employed by all modern day governments.
