none of that may matter ... Mr Trump's appeal has nothing to do with intellect or knowledge or experience ... a yuuuuuge chunk of Americans are just too frakking ignorant to make rational choices
regardless of the deep political chasm separating to two major parties, we have a choice between a {and not to be politically correct Mr Trump] an inept moron and a journeyperson politician who has more than enough "combat" ribbons to demonstrate the experience necessary to do the job ... it will not be a rational choice for many
ignorance is the enemy without equality there is no liberty America can survive bad policy, but not destruction of our Democratic institutions

Dang! Trump was sniffling like a common Colombian Coke Lord last night. Is that where he gets his energy to Tweet all night long?

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.
Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

Righties are panicking - they are attempting to pack all of the "online polls" (the ones where anybody, anywhere can "vote" as many times as they want) and are declaring that because Trump is "winning" them all, that it means everyone else is lying about his poor performance.
Next week, when the real polls have registered the debate, they will be saying that polls are meaningless.
Crikey, the aggressive stupidity is a bit scary.
I bet Trump's mind works the same fashion.
You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the old model obsolete. R. Buckminster Fuller

My take is that Trump's Russian financial backers, and perhaps even Vladimir Putin himself, were quite stung by his performance last night. They saw the same sweaty, fidgety snort-nosed angry orange homunculus most of America saw. In their eyes, I daresay Donald Trump looked WEAK. And by virtue of his storied association WITH them, they also now look weak, weak and unprepared. There is perhaps nothing that strikes to the heart of Russian anger than the appearance of weakness or the implication that they might not be prepared to do battle. Instead of looking like a feared adversary, by betting on this arrogant tycoon, they are now forced to wear the Boris and Natasha costume in earnest. Trump did more in one night to reduce the perception of the Russians to a cartoon than nearly thirty-five years of Cold War brinksmanship. They didn't just bet on a horse that lost, they bet on a diseased one. Betting on a Trump victory last night proves that the Russian assessment of American character is no better today than it was in 1962 when Kennedy forced Nikita Khrushchev to blink.
There was enough material from Trump last night for Seth Rogan to do another movie, only this time using Putin instead of Kim Jong Un.
But on a more serious note, Trump has also now exposed his own business empire to further dangers, too. His penchant for importing underpaid foreign laborers to work his construction sites is now, and forever shall be, a conduit for sabotage, the kind which potentially endangers any ordinary American who might find themselves in or around any of his future building projects. If the Russians can't just push him out of a helicopter over the Hudson, they will resort to other means, including the use of workers who will collude and conspire to create built-in time bombs in his physical infrastructure. They will pay off any inspector or worker who does their bidding handsomely, and in true cloak and dagger style, they will cover their tracks, and Trump's own slavish devotion to dubious accountability will actually aid their evil efforts.

My wish for all political debates is giving the moderator a timer and a switch to turn off a debater's microphone. The switch would be used for two specific instances. The first is that when one debater is speaking then the other's microphone would be turned off, thereby stopping any interruptions. The second is when any debater goes over a defined time limit. I guess there should be warning lights for the debaters but I really don't care about that one. We are, incidentally, now being told that Trump interrupted Hillary no less than 55 times and in one 26 minute period Trump actually interrupted Hillary 26 times! (Hillary only interrupted Trump 17 times)
