we should attack Russia in Syria you are the only person to say what i have thought for some time. what other conclusion can one derive from Mr Trump's or Gov Pence's statements. The only legitimate options in response to any global threat are sanctions. The other option is war.

What's a racist to do... We’ve seen presidential candidates in the past try to defend an unlikely choice of running mate. But we’ve never before seen a vice-presidential candidate try to defend a bizarre choice of nominee.
Yet that was the daunting task that Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana faced on Tuesday night, as he labored to defend Donald Trump, a nominee with contempt for many of the principles, much of the policy agenda and all of the dignity of the Republican Party that Mr. Pence cherishes.
Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia was on the attack from the start, declaring that “the thought of Donald Trump as commander in chief scares us to death.” Mr. Pence, cool and coherent where Mr. Trump, in his debate with Hillary Clinton last week, was petulant and erratic, made his own strategy clear right away: He set out to invent a new version of Donald Trump, one that he could believe in.
Mr. Pence simply ignored the Donald Trump we have seen on the trail for more than a year — the one who would build a wall against Mexico, the one who would disregard our security treaties and tear up our trade agreements, the one with a crush on Vladimir Putin — and instead dreamed up a more conventional, right-wing Republican, a Republican, that is, very like Mike Pence.

When the five wizards arrived in Middle Earth many years ago, the shipwright Cirdan gave his Ring of Power to Gandalf, not the leading wizard, Saruman. Cirdan chose wisely: While Gandalf would rally men and elves against Sauron's evil, Saruman not only conceded to tyranny, but embraced it.
If there's a reason Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" endures, it's because it isn't really fantasy. It is a kind of scripture. I'm not claiming Donald Trump is Sauron. I am, however, arguing that we can get an insight into what happened to Mike Pence by seeing how great writers explore the effect of power on the human soul.
Sen. Tim Kaine repeatedly cited Trump's most egregious comments, but all Pence did was deny Trump ever said any such thing. We have a non-focus grouped term for that. Lying. Pence may have lied more than Trump did, and that's a historic achievement.
So whether Pence loses the debate in the court of public opinion is secondary. Whether he becomes vice president almost does not matter. Pence's dishonesty is not just spiritually toxic, but socially radioactive. If the top of your ticket indulges anti-Semitism, moots war crimes, mocks veterans, shames women, and mines Breitbart for campaign direction, then you're no different.
What difference does it make if you're not a racist, but you want a racist to become president? Donald Trump was the test God placed before Mike Pence, and he failed. That's so much worse than losing.

I see Saint Reagan is at the top of your linked site Golem. Perhaps you can answer a long held question (puzzlement) I have had.
Conservatives have for years gone nutzoid against Ms. Clinton for the Benghazi “scandal”. Yet 277 US Marines were blown to bits in Beirut Lebanon while there under Reagan’s orders. Shortly after the ones who escaped death were sent back home.
How do the anti Clinton (and Reagan loving) conservative attack dogs reconcile this?
