You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the old model obsolete.

I've come to the conclusion, supported by LOTS of evidence, that the Clinton campaign has orchestrated the debates brilliantly. The Alicia Machado landmine exploded spectacularly, and Pence stepped on every landmine Kaine threw in front of him (evidenced by the new Clinton ads out today).

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

The theocrats are coming! The theocrats are coming!

Yes, I know about the Chalcedon Foundation, Reconstructionism, and Dominionism. They constitute a small minority.

The only place your going to see a US theocracy is in a science fiction or fantasy story.

A few of the original 13 states started out as Protestant colonies but that was WAY before 1776. By then there were Catholics, Jews, Deists, etc. in America and the majority in some regions. The Quakers were big but that has very little to do with these guy's ideas about religion.

So our theocracy should reflect the founders beliefs? Many of them were Deists, who didn't even believe in the divinity of Jesus. Thomas Jefferson even wrote his own Bible with all the miracles and mention of Jesus's divinity removed.

Like most Conservatives they long for a time that never existed.

US theocracy
hmmmm .... so I guess all the states which have passed religious freedom laws are not the product of an effort by fundamentalists to impose their religious values, contrary to the Constitution, on the rest of the folks? Maybe the efforts to take over education boards are an anomaly as well?

At what point do you think people like Lane or Barton will stop? 30% of Republican candidates this cycle were fundamentalists who invoked God and the Bible as above the Constitution. 25% of states have enacted religious freedom laws.

Does it mean theocracy is around the corner? At the national level, I do not know, but at the local level, it is happening.

ignorance is the enemy
without equality there is no liberty
America can survive bad policy, but not destruction of our Democratic institutions

While I hope you're right, I'm saving my judgement for after the election grin
