I did hear/read a curious thing very recently, where the jurors asked if they could separate out some of the defendants from the others relating to guilt or innocence on certain specific charges. What I understood from that was they were being judged as a group, and not individually. I didn't know that was a legal possibility.
Perhaps the jurors felt that they could not convict all of them so they let them all off?
