One thing for sure, we know he is a pathological liar.
He's probably not a pathological liar. He is a con man and and he knows exactly what to say to gain your confidence and sell his snake oil. Unfortunately(for him) when he gets to Washington he's going to find out that everyone he meets and deals with is just as good or better at it than him.

Even worse, he is a political neophyte. Supposedly, his kids are his closest advisers but they too are neophytes. So when he gets into his first political battle, he will be a pushover.

That could be with the Congress but I'm afraid it will be with Putin. I would say that Eastern European countries are screwed.

I really hope that Hillary doesn't run again in 2020. Seriously, I don't.

Rick, I don't think the Democratic Party will be anything like it currently is. Either they wake up and smell the shyte or they become more irrelevant than they already are.
The Clintons (both) should be relegated to the cushy retirement that Wall Street has afforded them. Neoliberalism doesn't fool anyone anymore.
The whole senior level of the party has to be booted, that is, if they ever want to win another election.

Another issue that Maine seems to have solved: the ridiculous voting system we are subjected to.

Maine is adopting a voting system that will make it easier for third party candidates to get elected

Mainers have just done something big for American democracy: they’ve voted to change how they vote.
More than 52% of voters said “yes” to Question 5, a ballot measure to adopt “ranked-choice” voting at all levels of office except the president—making Maine the first state in the nation to do so.

Yay Maine! If that were in place in the presidential election, we wouldn't have a President-reject Trump.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

LOL. That was a spell-check error. I just saw it, but I think I'll leave it.

Serious question. Given the RR "elected official rule" - do we have until noon January 20th 2017 EST before being forced to abide by this rule?

Piffle. Cali has done this since 2012 when they voted for it.

Now only Democrats in Cali get to move forward to the big races. Weird. smile

In Trump's meeting with Obama, they spent quite some time on ACA. Afterward, Trump told reporters he quite liked the preexisting condition coverage and keeping young adults on family policies. (Of course everybody likes those.)

He said maybe we need to modify ACA rather than repeal it! Not Republican at all!

It basically comes down to letting people with preexisting conditions die or not. That is the bottom line. Insurance WAS cheaper when you could buy policies that quit as soon as you got sick. You want real insurance, it is going to cost real money.

There simply isn't that much wriggle room for changing ACA. To make it much cheaper, you have to screw somebody. It may be doctors, may be drug companies, may be insurance companies, may be patients. Take your pick.

It has VERY little to do with being Republican or Democratic. Maybe we just rebrand it "TrumpCare" with a few superficial changes? Lower subsidies? (But people who elected Trump mostly complain about the cost, which is the exact opposite of lower subsidies.)
