I, too, miss the election-day ritual. Washington is all vote-by-mail, now. The advantage, though, is getting to sit down at the table, communally, share the voters pamphlets and opinions, and take time considering the ballot (which this year was two pages, with nearly a dozen initiatives/referenda). My wife, myself, and younger son did it together. That makes for a good election experience, too.
A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.
Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

Some reports are not good A coalition of voting rights groups has just told us that they’re being bombarded by a stream of complaints ranging from intimidation at polling stations to voting machines breaking down, polling stations opening late and mass confusion about where to turn up to cast the ballot.

VoteCastr real time estimates of the race in a number of key states based on early voting, polling data and turnout. An interesting project - will see how accurate it is by end of the day. Colo. Fla. Iowa Nev. Ohio Pa. Wis. As of now Clinton leading in all but PA.

I got a vote! Seriously. My son wrote me in for an appellate court seat. He didn't like the incumbent who is running unopposed. I'm a proud papa. (He thought It'd be funny if I won, too.) I humbly accept his support.

Here in NC there is a specific criminal charge: going armed to the terror of the people. It is a common law based charge: A person guilty of this offense (1) arms himself or herself with an unusual and dangerous weapon (2) for the purpose of terrifying others and (3) goes about on public highways (4) in a manner to cause terror to the people. NC courts have well established that any gun is an unusual and dangerous weapon for the purpose of this statute. http://nccriminallaw.sog.unc.edu/going-armed-to-the-terror-of-the-people/This guy might have had a proper permit, but carrying on school grounds ought to be the basis for sending that person to jail for a very long time. columbine and Sandy Hook were not made-up events, and the idea of terrifying a child at the school is just horrendous. Deplorable, even.
Take the nacilbupeR pledge: I solemnly swear that I will help back out all Republicans at the next election.

Congratulations! You would probably make a pretty good appellate judge. (Much less irritating interaction with defendants in that court.)

Because I have an info addiction, I will be following VoteCastr today, even though I don't want to. My only hope is that Clinton takes an early lead, so I can relax. I'm in court, today, so I won't be on all day, at least.
