metaphors for reduced public services, and entitlements, with increased military spending (whether they want it or not), jackbooted ICE agents asking for your papers (if you fit the profile), increasing federal deficits despite reduced entitlement budgets, monetary policies which only help the wealthy, etc .... and you can fill in the rest

austerity measures will result in higher unemployment, more jobs shipped overseas, trade tariffs, higher cost of goods, etc impacting GDP

poverty rate increasing with fewer commensurate services

the result will be a general attack on cities, the urban centers of liberals. The assault on liberals began with gerrymandering and will continue with destruction of the cities, to complete the power takeover. Very possibly conservatives will lock up the power structure so liberals can never assume power.

Since Trump is entering the office without a portfolio, he will rely on the failed policies of conservative-Republican ideologues, which are contrary to the "promises" he made in the campaign. He will discover that his power as President is extremely limited. This will be a very bad copy of the GWB years - which, by the way, we have not yet recovered from. The electorate will be angry (they will not recover), will feel they have been duped, and will seek a "change" - but the joke is on them, since the people they put in charge are the people that fvcked them in the first place. Unless real election reform and redistricting takes place, we are doomed to repeat this cycle (I mistyped that as scycle - ironic, no?) over and over, ad disastrum.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

Yup - that's got my stomach in knots too.

Presidential power/authority is limited by the Constitution, but I do not think one would say presidential is extremely limited. It is in fact very powerful. For conservatives it should be very limited, if one uses a literal reading of the Constitution as a guide. But that is not the case as has been seen in recent years with VP Cheney pushing the concept of an unitary executive branch. Does anyone believe Mr Trump has ever been limited by anything? I would expect he would push the limits into the unConstitutional nether lands.

He has already indicated he would use EO's to achieve his goals quickly, so expect nullifying any or all Obama EO's, followed by a long series of EO's to keep Constitutional scholars awake at night trying to figure out their legitimacy.

First order of business for Congress will be repeal of ACA. Some pundits have opined they will wait for a replacement to be developed first but I suspect they will lose their sense of urgency once it has been repealed. Conservatives will promote privatization.

One thing which really amazes me about ignorant people is they do not care if their savior is wrong or does not succeed. After all he is their savior.

Once again the Evangelicals will get thrown under the bus. You'd think they'd be tired of waking up with tire tracks on their faces so many times. But hey, the definition of insanity... etc.

Bush's evangelical coordinator not only got thrown under the bus, he also died shortly after publishing his tell all book, but curiously, the only ones who READ the damn thing were LIBERALS. The people who needed to hear his message ignored him, and his book.

not so quick

consider Gov Pence is arguably a theocrat. there are many Republican/conservatives who at least give lip service to the notion that the Bible is above the Constitution. Mr Trump probably does not care one way or the other whether the theocrats enact discriminatory laws against everyone whom the evangelicals deem damned by God.

Further consider Roe v Wade .... Congress may be in a position to reverse the law

Prayer in school ... again Mr Trump probably does not care ....

evangelicals are now in a position to get their agenda passed and Mr Trump will not stand in their way .... the only thing keeping unConstitutional laws from remaining laws is the SC. we are close to being a tacit theocracy.

I think Pence will be relegated to his original status: crash dummy in chief.
No one can cast a shadow on the emperor .
