I have been involved in many campaigns, not on a national scale, but a few were state wide. There is always a rule of thumb, the state committee does not know what they are talking about, does not really understand the campaign as well as the people on the ground and the state committee will always deflect blame onto the campaign whenever anything goes wrong. The true believers will always follow their chosen candidate’s lead. The campaign manager is always, by definition, a true believer, I was not surprised to read that the DNC “knew better”, and I do not believe it for a second. I also do not believe anybody who says that they expected Trump to win. In politics the only constant is the big lie, then all of the little lies follow the leader.
The DNC would have been very happy to take credit for a Hillary victory, and Hillary true believers would have argued that the DNC had very little to do with their victory. For the record, I was far less interested in this campaign than I have been since I first registered as a Republican in 1979. Trump is a buffoon, Hillary is a dishonest politician who could not be trusted. I sat this one out and worked a little on my county sheriff’s campaign. That being said, SCOTUS was the deciding factor for me and forced me to vote for Trump, even though I knew he didn’t stand a chance.
There is no real difference between the parties. Each act as obstacles to the other, each throw insults at each other and each have lunch together and laugh about the little people they only pay attention to when they need to be reelected. Trump will be very good for America, if he doesn’t blow it up. He is proof that the people matter and if you piss off enough people they can make a difference. That object lesson was needed and was delivered on election day.
