I had always assumed it was money and his "brand"

NWP's recent thread got me thinking in another direction.

I am sure money has something to do with it, but suppose it something else, something more sinister.

What if, as is probable, that #45 owes money, LOTS of money to the Russian mafia and Putin.

Maybe he is motivated more by fear for safety and longevity for himself and his family. We have all seen what the Russians are capable of ! So has #45. Were those incidents in GB for 45's benefit , as a message ?

We know that he is a coward, a craven coward, so do the Russians.

I am with you, Jim. I think this also explains Manafort's willingness to go to trial despite overwhelming evidence. They're birds of a feather with similar Russian mob problems. Russian monsters have never shied from using family as tools of influence. Their hits can be indiscriminate and splashy. Don Junior is threatened not just by Mueller.

Let's face it, the Trump organization would no longer exist if not for Russian mob money. If they pull out, the house of cards collapses, and he knows it. That would suit Putin's plans too. He's all about disruption and destruction. Trump's spectacular self-immolation serves his interests too, and everyone knows he's the Capo Di Tutti Capo.

Yeah, this is what "over a barrel" means. Trump is deeply in debt to Russian banks. Russian banks are controlled by Russian Oligarchs. Russian Oligarchs control the Russian Mafia. Vladimir Putin controls them all.

He also controls the KGB. An organization that makes our CIA look like amateurs.

It shouldn't be this difficult to believe that Trump is a controlled asset. Look at how he behaves.
This, I think, will be the overall picture painted by these multiple investigations. For the time being Mueller and co are like a couple of guys who ran into the ER and left us in the car with the engine running.
Some of the noisier kids in back think they've been in the ER too long, and no one's really sick.

I don't think it's just money, at this point. It starts with a loan, but soon they own you. There is no escape by paying back a certain amount of money. You are their slave for the rest of your life, and they are perfectly happy to enslave the rest of your family. Or poison them to make a point. I would say the kids are in grave danger if they are not already cooperating.
