Today's news out of Norway is interesting. Those left leaning liberals have decided to divest their Government Pension Fund Global (GPFG) from upstream oil and gas producers. The Norwegian GPFG is the world's largest wealth fund, valued at one trillion dollars. Their move is primarily concerned about protecting the Norwegian economy from any future plunge in the oil price rather than climate concerns, although these are mentioned by the government. That's right, one trillion dollars is being repositioned to protect the Norwegian people from the bumps and bruises of a changing capital market. But I daresay that a trillion dollar move also has a lot to say about climate change, too.

Flight attendant, a DACA recipient, released by ICE (NBC). I was going to post this yesterday, but now the situation has changed. A Mesa Airlines flight attendant, who as a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program recipient is barred from traveling outside the United States under the Trump administration's rules, was released from immigration detention Friday after being taken into custody when she returned to the U.S. on a flight from Mexico that she had worked.
Selene Saavedra Roman, 28, who works for the regional airline based in Phoenix, walked out of the immigration facility Friday evening dragging her Mesa-issued flight bags, according to a representative for the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA who went to meet her and her attorney. She had been held for more than a month.

Jackbooted thugs at the border. This makes Republicans happy. it makes them feel secure. That it might be American children caught up in the concertina wire and machine gunned to death really doesn't matter, as long as brown children are not allowed to enter our great country without proper papers.
I just saw a local poll asking if republicans would vote for Trump again. They all love him and believe "he has done great things for our country".
I dunno what "great things" those might be but I'm guessing that the Children In Cages™ is high on their lists since "illegal immigrants stealing our jobs" is a major problem for them.

The North Korea thing is just for show anyway: Anybody with an IQ over 60 knows Kim will never give up his nukes. The lesson of Ukraine is not lost on Kim. Everything else is just meaningless play-acting. We can improve out relations, but forget about the nukes. They are here to stay, and if Trump fixates on them he is going to be disappointed every time they meet.
This is a case where "alternate facts" and a "personal relationship" have no effect on reality. Quite right. .
